Spain in complete lockdown!

All I know is our golf course might be closed tomorrow, golf is not a mixing sport you say hello on the 1st you don’t see them again until you say goodbye on the 18th 😂🤣
Ah, I see, like me you may favour the rough because it makes life more more "interesting".

Spain now has the strain of Covid that originated (perhaps) in the UK...not to be anti- social, we shall be sending you the strain that originated....in Brazil via our neighbours in Portugal...
You might be joking (no emoji?) If so it's not funny. The so-called British strain was first detected here, that doesn't mean the Uk is responsible. And as has been well publicised already it was identified here first because of the world-leading genetic science we have, plus the Uk Government informed the world promptly unlike the behaviour of China.
Your final sentence is a disgrace, joking or not.

The authentic Spanish restaurant has now been taken over and turned into a Chinese buffet..so that makes at least 4 In the town..

Remember the old saying

BUY NICE OR BUY TWICE..

Wish it was that easy sometimes 🥺

Read the whole thread and my previous threads on Fun, Facebook and other social media, then you might get to understand my true feelings of stupid, selfish people who drive thousands of Kms in their motorhomes causing concern to us and our medical establishments, just so they can enjoy a few months of wintersun.....😖😖😖 Emoji to express feeling if not obvious in text...

Portugal is in LOCKDOWN as well as of last Thursday

Yes it is and even more stringent rules announced yesterday come into force today, I wish the French on our site would take some notice!!:(:(

Portugal has introduced a new set of stricter measures to help curb the number of Covid-19 deaths and cases in the country.

These measures were announced by the Prime Minister and are to be combined with the already in place measures.

"The new rules now also include:
Prohibition of movement between municipalities at weekends
Requirement for those travelling to work to hold a valid declaration.
Service companies with more than 250 workers must communicate to ACT within the next 48 hours a list of all workers whose on-site work they consider indispensable
Store opening hours limited to 8:00 pm on weekdays and until 1:00 pm on weekends. Food retail establishments can only operate until 5 pm on weekends
Prohibition of the sales of goods from “take away windows”. In the case of cafes and restaurants, the sale from take away windows is only allowed for packaged and drink-free products, including coffee.
The operation of restaurants in shopping centers, even on a take-away basis is now prohibited.
Gatherings and consumption of food in the vicinity of restaurants and cafes is prohibited.
All sports areas closed, including tennis and padel courts outdoors.
Day centres, senior universities and social spaces are closed.
People are prohibited from staying in gardens and public leisure spaces.
Any promotional campaigns that encourage the movement of people are banned.
Tutoring services (ATL) for children up to the age of 12 is now permitted.
Local councils are also being asked to close seafront areas or other spaces that encourage the gathering of people
Schools will continue to remain open with face to face classes, while there will be an increased police presence across the country to ensure that rules are being followed by the population"

"Playing tennis, golf and most outdoor sports is not allowed under the latest State of Emergency rules which came into force on Wednesday (January 20).

These latest restrictions on sports have been enforced by the government in an attempt to halt increasing Covid-19 cases which are putting tremendous pressure on the national health service (SNS).

However, there are exceptions. Only professional sport is allowed to continue.

In other words, golf courses, tennis courts, football fields, shooting ranges, pools and other sports venues should all be closed except when being used by professional and “high-performance” athletes and teams.

The Portuguese Golf Federation (FPG) said in a statement that all golf courses were expected to close on Wednesday due to the new rules, while the Portuguese Federation of Tennis (FPT) said all indoor and outdoor tennis and paddles courts will also close “with the exception of when they are used for training and competitions of high-performance athletes and national teams”.

And yet they are allowing possibly the greatest cause of the spread of the infection, schools, to remain open!!

As of last night our area is on lockdown all closed
Yep....looks like we have all gone backwards, I'm fully supportive of controlling a situation that we find ourselves in...the relaxing of measures has obviously not worked...a stronger line is the only answer...we ain't going to like it, but we may not have an option..

According to news this morning, Spain bans all tourists until 70% of the population are vaccinated.

Around 2% are currently vaccinated.
70% expected to be done by the end of summer.

It will be a great shame for the tourism industry, and the whole country.
We only came back for Xmas, and were due to fly back tomorrow for 89 days to avoid this weather.... 🌧️🌬️🌨️⛈️

But hopefully with the vaccine rollout and a long lockdown things can finally get to as near normal as possible this year, and begin the great economic recovery! 🍷

Meanwhile, we are locked down in the van on sons drive in Lincolnshire getting through a lot of gas, and booking summer rallys..... 🌞

What if the source was from illegal immigrants crossing the channel in dinghies, rescued by Border Force vessels, then taken to UK establishments where they are 'processed'?
I'm with you Ken,
When it comes to COVID we not have the best figures BUT we do have World beating scientists.

That the new strain was found within spitting distance of the Channel Ports doesn't surprise me in the slightest and the Worlds reaction (ie it came from the UK ) is typical of how events are reported.

I think no tourism until 70% are vaccinated sounds pretty sensible as a policy we could adopt here too for local and international tourism.

The reality might have to be a little different - this was 5 months ago, it won't have improved.

Might this situation change if countries issue a covid vaccine passport?

This made me smile 🙄

The new restrictions will also confine cities with a population of more than 50,000 on weekends and bank holidays. Perimeters of these cities will be closed at 3.00pm on Friday afternoon and re-opened at 6.00am on the following Monday.
Quick we have to leave early. 🤔

Gathering is two unless you live in the same household. 🙂

We was going to our German friends, it was going to be Monday they then had strong winds all the sunbeds ended up in the pool, that's it bbq's off, 🤭 then it's on for Tuesday Bob will drink beer and eat meat, Janie will eat fish and drive picking up another friend, 😉 in a dominant German ladies accent. 😁

It's not happening again , so no stress. 😄
Shame really because I like a dominant woman, and I obviously drank too much of their red wine last time. :wine: :wine: 😜😁 Oh well. 😄 Bob

Interesting item on the French news last night. Showing French people in Madrid, in restaurants, nightclubs etc, tourists standing in front of Picasso's Guernika (apparently trips to Spain are very cheap at the moment!).
