Hi All. I am looking for South of France campsite recommendations that can take our 9m tag. Looking for a site with pool, bar, restaurant and walking distance to a town. Would prefer a serviced pitch if I can find one. Any help? Thanks. Ps this is for summer 2024

Camp du Domaine at La Faviere.

It doesn’t have a pool as its on the beach. Serviced pitches and plenty of room for large motorhomes.

2km walk along a boardwalk to Le Lavandou.

We are just back after 10 days pieds dans l’eau. Fantastic.

Booking opens for 2024 on 22 November.

Check out Les Berges du Canal in Beziers. Right next to Canal du Nord and a 400m walk in to town. Excellent on site restaurant and bar with outside tables next to the canal, two restaurant/bars within 300m, three good restaurant/bars in town, decent supermarket, vet, great flat cycle paths. Lots to see and do, beaches nearby, a big town 2 miles away (Bezier proper) that has an excellent Indian restaurant. I think I like eating! Carcassonne is an hour away and well worth a visit, Definitely worth a look! We’ve been twice.

Cheers!

I don’t think that there are any campsites between Nice and Monaco. There are two small ones in the hills above La Turbie. If the plan is to visit Nice and Monaco then you might be better to stay in Ventimiglia or West of Nice and use the train. Campsites with good access to Nice will be busy for the duration of the rugby world cup.

Would have suggested this but thought it might be a bit far out for you.
They have a shuttle service that takes you to Menton or ventimiglia, or to the station on the line that goes all along the coast.

Train ride from Ventimiglia to Nice is fab, it runs along the coast and you get fantastic sea views. Not very expensive either from memory. I worked as a spark in the Tuscan hills for 7 months and used the train from La Spezia to Nice airport fairly regularly to get a plane home.

Closedt you're going to get is municipal at Menton, Nice views and area but difficult access and pricey and not sure about pool. Problem with being above Monaco is you do need a scooter etc, Menton or Ventimiglia you can use the train

Ventimiglia has always been one of my favourite stops, the site I recommend in a previous post has pretty much what you need , it's only just in Italy and the provided shuttle gets you into Menton in about 10 minutes.
And there is a path through trees direct to the beach with a restaurant next to the beach.
Even if you can find a site between nice and Monaco it will be at least double the cost of this one.

Camping Soleil, argeles sur mer. Massive pitches, massive heated pool, nice beach next to site. On acsi
How did you book this place? The booking reservations system just seems to say no availability no matter what the dates, is it that popular?

We go out of season and just turn up without a place. This year turned up 30th August... Loads of space. They might have shut now but reception staff speak perfect English so might be worth ringing..

I always think that if you travel to the Argeles area of France, close to the Spanish border, then you might be better staying on the motorway for another hour and going to somewhere in Spain like Roses. Nice resort, everything cheaper. Drinks at least half the price of France. Just a thought.

It’s the sand I can’t stand it’s sooo messy gets between your toes and everywhere. But that’s just me

This is true there is a place not far into Spain that we stopped at it's an aire though not a site, it's right in the centre of the town, wind surfing and all sorts of beach stuff and a real modern fish market with bidding and a great ambience.

Local town approx 20-30 mins walk Ade, turn left out of site and follow your nose 30mins to an island for only supermarket few bar's and restaurant's up in quaint little village 👌

Just be aware neighbours on site had both e-bikes stolen in Nice, worth £5K. 🙈 Sorry not all good 🤷‍♂️

Totally agree with the suggestion to cross into Spain. I love France and I am currently near the Dordogne on my way back to Channel, but Spain is just some much easier on the wallet. Even the supermarkets, although there are fewer in Spain, are way cheaper. Diesel was €1.55 ish a litre in most local stations ( not Cepsa, Repsol etc). Beer about €1.20 coffee about €1. Eating out, albeit a bit different to France was much more affordable.
The Dordogne is wonderful and 28 degrees this afternoon, but just a tourist trap for the most part. And the mozzies are brutal right now!

We've been going to Roses for 35 years. Really like the place. After trying most of sites in the area Camping Rodas is our preferred choice. Good size pitches. Pool and restaurant. There is a camper stop a few hundred yards away but worth paying the few euros extra on Acsi to get advantages of a top site. Roses has definitely had a face-lift in recent years.
