Some people don’t want the work !

What jobs do you need doing but cannot get anyone to do for you ?
None actually, either do them myself or pay for them at market rate, its November and that bloke doesn't need the hassle of fixing your pipe work on your drive, and nor would I.

You need a workshop based operation, you’ll have to pay for that.

Your chose pay up or get down and do it yourself.

He wants nice easy work like hab checks which is money for nothing.
And at the moment Tam he has about 2 months work in hand and more as do most of the tradesmen in this area. They are able to pick and chose and if I were in their position I would do exactly the same.

Oh i get it ... I'd pick easy work myself. But it does leave a problem when you cant do things yourself.

My mum is having problems just now getting someone to remove and fit a new integrated oven ...people are saying January February before they can come out .

Don't Curry's fit them if you buy off them?

If it's of any use to anyone I've found a plumber in the area that will work round the clock to complete your job.

;)

I have had the same problems as the OP. I want an electric sliding step fitted. There is so little clearance under the van, can't get under (PVC) with enough space to work freely, even with 4 chocks under each wheel. Can't get anyone to quote. Some guys just don't even reply. I do have a cheap 2 ton hydraulic lift, could buy another (2 ton x 2) but wouldn't feel safe, plus not sure if I have enough skills to do the job anyway.

I really don't like metal ramps and diy axle stands, as so many accidents have happened over the years. With such a heavy vehicle, I keep a pile of concrete blocks to use as a lift. I lay them out in a line, or 2 parallel and use short wooden ramps to drive onto and along the line of blocks. Gives me an extra 4 inches of ground clearance under the van. Plus I wear safety glasses to protect my eyes from falling crap

The job of insulating pipes is a very simple DIY job, with foam insulation, duct tape and cable ties. Very little to get wrong really even for the most inept at DIY. Although I must admit I do like such people, as they gave me a lot of work over the years

"2 Ton" axle stands are only rated at 1 Ton! The small print says they are 2 Tons per pair. Beware.
Quite correct , except mine are rated at 2 ton each , their 4 ton stands . To put it bluntly , the vans too bloody heavy to bugger about with flimsy equipment made of plastic , even my trolley jack is rated at 3 ton . Yes i did shell out more , but hey ho . The only thing i don't have is ramps that will take the weight . I do have some , but honestly their a pain to get on . I certainly wouldn't trust it on a set of plastic levelling ramps to work on . Kerbside weight of the van is 3.100 ton , in travel trim around about 3.3 , gross is 3.7 . All my equipment was brought specifically for the thing , i just happen to use this stuff on my other motors to make the expense more acceptable .

You

You are not going to believe this but, I have the lagging tubes but the big issue is that my convertor chose to weave both hot and cold pipes through the cut outs in the chassis members, so to lag them means disconnecting them, lagging whilst rerouting. The problem will be ensuring I reconnect soundly, and this is all whilst on my back under the van 🥴🥴
My plumbing skills are leaky !
Why not lag between the chassis rails & where they have gone throughthem blow them with expanding foam? Saves disconnection.
