South Hams DC in Devon has voted to make permanent the provision for self-contained MHs to overnight in 5 car parks. Max 2-night stopovers in each.

Good news indeed. The more councils that make a success of it, the more likely other councils will follow. The UK is fast on it's way to being Motorhome Friendly. I think CAMpRA deserve a lot of the credit for that.

Won't make any difference to the FLTs , they don't want to pay anything.

Absolutely, feels like they are posting every week or two with new areas, fair play.

Good news but £10 with no facilities and cars can stop overnight for free, why the discrimination?
Yes I've noticed that when researching them on search for sites. Would certainly put me off and make me look elsewhere. In fact the Totness one is a tenner with no facilities but there's a CAMC site much closer to the town which I'd pay for given the convenience and facilities.
BUT despite all, at least councils are starting to make positive moves.

7 nights in a car park at 10 quid a night thats nearly paid for a ferry crossing to France much better way of spending my pension and £70 saved on fuel getting to the ferry port compared to Devon.:giggle:

Which ferry do you use?

Apparently over 200 aires now listed. Whatever they cost and wherever they are it’s great progress. Just take a look at the strategy of some of the other players e.g. CMHC new acquisition at Dornafield which is just the usual old format - more like a site for tuggers and glampers than touring.

That is good news, the more the merrier. Southport has a good overnight council car park @ £4.80 too

As opposed to new brighton, first they put height barriers on perch car park, then signs up at the bottom end saying no overnights, and now they want £20 to overnight here right on the road 10pm - 8am ...ruined it for us it has.

They must think we love cars and lorries thundering past giving us a good rocking. Its cleared out all the motorhomes though.

there are that many parking charge signs up along that road, Id say they spent easy 30k supplying and installing them.

Newhaen/Dieppe, cheaper than Dover/Calais and only 20 miles from home.
Indeed, cheaper than I thought and way cheaper than Brittany. Not always in the MoHO, so it's the extra driving at each end that puts me off as we're 20ish miles from Portsmouth.

And 20% discount if you are over 60.

I wonder how much they've lost in trade.

This alone was 105 euro at a stop in Dunfanaghy for the night and doesn't include another 30 odd euro from the local shop and a few pints in 2 pubs.
Hell, I spent 320 euros on one item for the wifes anniversary present in Letterkenny!

Oh yeah defo.
First thing I used to do was straight in to morrisons for basics, then probably chippy, at some point, then if we were there as a couple, it would be cinema, probably one of the restaurants they have round the harbour thingy, and whatever else.
Always struck me as strange as there never seemed to be loads of problems or rubbish etc etc.
