Does anyone have experience of fitting a solar powered & PIR controlled LED light above the side door of their 'van?

I'm thinking of something cheap & cheerful off ebay, which is already working well for us in the back garden at home, to light the way back to the van on a dark campsite and also provide illumination of potential hazards while driving in tight spaces at night.

The only problems I see are the thing getting blown or sucked off in 70mph gales (I never drive at 72 ☺) or some legal infringement about a non-oange light on the vehicle side..

What do you all think??

If you have a wind-out awning, then you could make some solar LED PIR lights that slide into the tracks on your awning lead bar.
They are easy to slide into place when you park up and remove for travelling, and you can use them with your awning wound in or out.

As the post I wrote is over a year old the links to the lights I used are now broken, but here's a link to the same lights from another seller.

................ and here's the link to the post on how to assemble them and links to the other items needed.

I got self contained solar PIR lamp from Aldi a year or so ago. It has a decent suction cup, so I just stick it on passenger side window. Works a treat and can't forget it as it is in view if driven.

I’ve got one of these but it’s been struggling this time of year with cloudy days.
Mine slides into awning rail.

I've got about a dozen of these in the back garden. Light wherever you walk. As they don't come on much there is no problem with the solar charging even in midwinter.

I got a energise LED pir solar light from BNM it's the best £20 I've ever spent (hehehe). It can be fitted with magnet, has three light options. It's been on constantly in garden no problems for three years.
