Getting there!
I have just swapped our fridge over for a newer second hand one, I noticed the new one doesn’t have a plug like the old one did but obviously has to be wired in somehow and I think easiest would be to attach a plug…

My basic question is can the French socket in the photo be changed for a UK 3 pin socket and then the engineer can fit a 3 pin plug and tail with spade connectors to power it from?

Or is there a better alternative?

Could you not just use a French to UK travel adaptor and use what I guess is a UK plug on your new fridge? Good luck 👍

The new fridge doesn’t have a plug at all, just the spade connectors in picture 2

Cut off spades and fit a plug.

The spades will be at the fridge end.

If you have a UK plug to put on, and can lay your hands on a travel adaptor, that should sort it.That way you will have a fuse in the plug as would be normal in the UK. I would also check the polarity on that socket.

Not sure I can get one in time, the engineer is coming Friday to connect everything.

Would a c-line 3 pin socket be rated the same and ok to use? I can get one locally tomorrow.
Would do but why not just fit a junction box you don't unplug the fridge every day. The Maintenance Free push type connectors are the best no screws to loosen with vibration, any electrical wholesaler will have them.

Thanks…

Wago or similar? Secure the box in place of the French socket?

I would not use a French to UK travel plug adaptor, its something else to possibly work loose just change the French socket for a UK one, the UK plug one end spades the other, and there is an extra lug below the Earth terminal to use.

Why not remove the french socket and fit a UK fused spur instead. Then run a new cable to the fridge with spades on the fridge end.

Its out of sight so fit a regular UK 3 pin surface socket and a UK 3 pin plug to the fridge tails.

Yes it would be fine. In a motorhome, all these socket types (French, German, Schuko, UK etc) are all interchangeable. The wire to the socket will already be protected by an RCD and an MCB of 16A or less.
