So how many hrs a day do you drive

I drive about 8 sometimes but again I mainly go by distance and targets.

Mainly due to me working still. What I might do is do a big hit like Calais to south of France. Then much smaller drives where I can be where I want.

My record was waking up in Hungary 🇭🇺...or somewhere down that way..
Looking at my sat nav which said 1035 miles to Calais, I had a Saturday pm Ferry it was 6 am Friday..
We made it!!!

But then I love driving, it was all toll roads and I know when to stop..

It all depends Bill, all the interesting stuff for me is in Bavaria at the closest so it’s a minimum 6-7 hours to get away from Calais. Once I drove from Rotterdam to the Austrian border towing a trailer (so slower speeds) with one 15 minute stop, that was around 12 hours, we both said we wouldn’t do that again so for us 7-8 hours on first day is comfortable, but we are relatively young (on here anyway) and I have driven most of my life for a living👍
I’m certain when I get older the miles will drastically get less and less per day🤔

We drove over 400 miles just to reach the ferry ports, if forecast is ok for heading north I’ll take a day or two, if forecast is bad we’ll stay in sun longer and drive longer.
Got the over night ferry over at night and got up early following morning and headed for St Tropez which is about 750 miles, we did over 650 that day as it was October and wet, plus I was running the Nice marathon 5 days later so wanted to rest.

For us it depends on where we are travelling and why. If we have a specific destination we try to get there sooner rather than later. If tootling around then it depends on what we find en route ...

Just a few years back going to Spain I drove for 12 hrs with a braked of 2 hrs after six so it was a 14hr day.
That’s when i realised that I can’t do what I use to.
Wasn’t till the next day I promised myself 4 hrs it was a bit of a lazy thought your working your shelf to hard on holiday bill slow down.
It a holiday.
Since then it’s has been 4 hours a day we see more and do more.
But at that time I wasn’t in the best of helth

200 miles on fast roads, can just about make it to Dover with one stop at Sainsbury’s Bracknell. However that is not enjoyable. 200 km more like a max once away.

We leave Guildford about 0600 hrs, travel to Dover, wait for ferry and make Sully or Rodemack dependant on where we are going, but I have just had a 12 hour night shift so have an hour or 2s kip somewhere
Might have one more of those, maybe 2 before I knock work and limited time off on the head.
12 hours driving is about the max, we do share but I ll do 80% generally

I'd say 4 hours, maybe 6 max.

But I must learn to eat lunch along the way rather than arrive at 2.30 plus "hangry".

I'm retired, it's a holiday.

So how many hours do you drive a day my maximum is 4 hrs
Roughly the same Bill, but if driving through France on a Sunday, I try to get as far as possible, ie, no trucks on the roads. ;)
Also if it's bucketing down, I just keep going until I've had enough. ;)

Have a great trip. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

IT's simple I drive for 2 hours take a break and eat then 2 hours more distance is irrelevant occasionally I drive a little more when a stop comes up not suitable for our 8m motorhome

A lot less than I used now days about 4 to 5 hours.
Often don't set off until nearly midday then after an hour or two stop for at least an hour for lunch. Going across France 100 to 150 miles.
Across Spain often 200 miles plus with good roads and hardly any traffic.

Depends day or night 5 in day time but 4 as a max at night I now find it harder as I get older .
Chasnam.
When it's dark I'm in the Motorhome supping G&T or beers, certainly not going to drive. 🤣

4 to 5 hrs with a break in between.
I used to be OK driving at night but I don't like to now. We went out early this morning when it was still dark and I dont really want to do it again .
Our drive to Newhaven will be 5 hrs with a break in between. But we have to go around Brum so that may add an hour. (y)

Depends but we do share the driving, did StTropez to Benicassim with 1 stop so we could meet up with friends who were leaving the next day
