Snow chains/socks

We live in the foothills of the Pyrenees and frequently visit Spain. Several of the roads we usually use to get over the Pyrenees are likely to demand we carry snow chains this winter. Has anyone had experience of fitting chains or socks to a Hymer? I would hope we never have to use them but not having them on board is a violation of french law in such places.
