After winter i've been checking everything is sound before i go away in a couple of weeks but my smoke alarm is going off when i'm running the heating.
The unit is hooked up to electric and still has water drained. There is no visible signs of smoke or even a smell. I've put the smoke alarm in my kitchen for a couple of days and it hasn't gone off since. The carbon monoxide sensor in the van hasn't gone off at all.
Any knowledge or advice that can help me? I'm obviously a bit nervous!

How old is the smoke alarm. They have an expiry date usually, so it may be playing up due to age. You could also try vacuuming it out. Dust can affect them.

smoke alarm is ok to may 2033! Odd thing is it only goes off when the heating is on in the van. I've been cooking in my house kitchen near it and it's not going off but bleeps when i test it.

We emailed Fire angel before Christmas and are still waiting for an answer

Just bought a new one especially when the CO detector did the same with the same expiry date so got a new pair

Put the CO monitor next to the smoke detector, does the CO unit have a display, you might have low levels triggering the smoke detector

Buy a new one, they are not expensive , if it still goes off take that very seriously

Is it a heat detector rather than a smoke detector? Could explain why it goes off when you have the heating on.
As silly as it may sound ! Try Panasonic batteries, my metatrax fob needed new batteries tried most brands except Panasonic , phoned metatrax and the first thing they asked what batteries , they said most units are specific batteries.

I have a smoke detector in the bedroom area of the van and a heat detector at the kitchen end. A smoke detector in the kitchen area used to go off every time anything was fried, they are very sensitive in a small area like a motorhome.
