I understand that you don't have 100% all the time live tracking, but surely hiding one of the above types of tag in a vehicle is a good idea.
They don't need a power connection or a subscription and are very small.
Do thieves have the ability to detect these and then find them? If taped inside a hidden area inside the van they would be virtually impossible to find by searching by hand, but can theives use any kind of detection equipment to find them?
I have one in my car as a trial and it does seem to do a good enough job.

A friend of mine has the roof tent stolen from his vehicle while he was out of the UK (vehicle was in the UK) was able to track it via an apple airtag and the police recovered it.

I have Appletags on almost everything that moves. I understand that a thief with an iPhone would be informed if, say, he was driving one of my cars.

Gives me a bit of piece of mind but if you do follow this idea, renew the batteries promptly. I’ve lost two tags!

I took a trailer from the UK to Murcia the trailer owner had placed a air tag in the trailer without my knowledge, my samsung galaxy phone informed me there was a tracker with me on the journey. So I think anyone can see if there's one in the vehicle.

I have multiple altered apple tags around the van but not as a primary tracking system. Hopefully more of a fuck it it's not worth the effort realization by the thief with the added benefit of perhaps real time tracking with unparalleled battery life in case of GPS blocking.

We bought 4 Apple tags and although they’re good I don’t think they’re that great, I raised a complaint with Apple but gave up after a couple of months arguing. The tags are so you can find lost items and anyone with an iPhone can see their visibility, we have them hidden in the frame of our bikes so if thief has IPhone it would be quite easy to find it if he had an Allankey on him.

Can you tell if a Samsung smart tag is in a vehicle?
Yep it connects to your phone its bouncing of phone signals around it

I'm sure a smart tag type tracker would be the first thing a thief would check for with his phone

I have an apple tag hidden away in Ziggy - yes, chances are a Tea Leaf will know its there - but where is the key thing?

If its not obvious it will hopefully act as a deterrent

For a few quid, its a no brainer for me

(But back in the day, i secreted a toothed gin trap under a seat cover on my Old Ford crapi - scooters might have got in for the stereo, but would be easy to find in A&E with half a buttock missing….. team heat, when they asked me about it, only commented that as its in a locked car, was there fore technically in private property, so was actually legal…..)
