Planning 2023 trips. Any one spent time in the summer In Slovenia we would be interested in their thoughts of what they think of the country.

Watching with interest, we are thinking of Slovenia, Croatia area for summer 2023.
Possibly heading off in May for about 6-8 weeks

Highly recommend it, we’ve been with the van a few years ago and will go back when we have more time.
We stayed in Ljubljana and would recommend visiting, we parked on friends drive so can’t comment on sites, we stay a camping Bled for a few days. Lovely walks and cycling and if you enjoy water sports the lake is lovely. We then went to Izola for a few days, at that time we stayed in a car park that allowed overnight near the port, the hotel next door allowed parking for a charge which allowed the use of their pool area. We then traveled to Bovec where you have an Aire and campsite, we used the site, in winter it’s a ski resort in summer it’s ideal for walking, cycling and water sports and just a nice place to be.
Our daughter has been back to stay with our friends and visited a few more places and loved them all.

Was just in Ljubljana a couple of weeks ago. Traffic free city - bus pass (you need to buy in advance) and bike here really cheap. One of nicest safest feeling cities I’ve ever been to. Also went to Skocjan Caves which are amazing but hard work on the knees with steps up and down. Was with school kids so didn’t get to see the other sites. Will definitely go back.

We like Slovenia so much we have bought a house here!

You might find the following website useful for more out-of-the-way places:

52 Places in Slovenia

He’s only got to number 34 so far, but hopefully he will get around to adding more.

If you are going to Ljubljana the I would recommend this place to stay.
We have stayed there twice and it's great. It's very cheap and is free if you spend over Euro 25 in the restaurant. The bus to Ljubljana stops right outside. Advisable to give them a call or email the day or two before but they usually cram you in if they can!
