I am at a loss. The bathroom skylight on my Hobby motorhome is cracking. It is a problem with this model and Hobby charge a fortune for a replacement that will probably not last very long. Too many cracks now to glue and fibreglass would lose light. Any recommendations for someone who can make and fit an alternative. I have added some photographs. The max Diameter is about 65cm. Please, any suggestions.

I was going to suggest just cutting the hole bigger and putting in a square skylight. But it looks like it's quite integrated into the design?

Most motorhome bits are not made by the builders, is there a brand name anywhere on it like Dometic or Seitz? Sometimes using google but using pictures is images.
Doing just that revealed to follwing poatings on another Forum, oh dear will I be shot for posting this?

"Problems with the circular rooflight that was fitted to the washroom of certain Hobby motorhomes was mentioned in these earlier forum threads

From what Brain Kirby said, the rooflight was manufactured by a Luxembourg-based company called “Para Press” and (from online comments) this went bankrupt some while ago.

Brian’s comments in the first link above suggest that the rooflight’s glazing comprises two separate ‘panes’ that are bonded together during the rooflight’s construction to form a double-glazed unit, so it’s unlikely that just the upper ‘pane’ would ever have been offered as a separate entity.

As the rooflight’s manufacturer (apparently) went bust, presumably Hobby still has some of these rooflights kicking around in their parts department."

Yes it does vent. It has 3 of the clips shown that lift the unit about 5cm. It also does seem to be double skinned as suggested as it now holds water between them.

Just found this. I expect it needs the 650mm version as it has a 20mm rim. If you use this type to replace the dome, it can be bonded to the roof as a sealed roof light. You need to confirm the outside dimension of the skylight frame before ordering

Thanks, that looks interesting.

I went to Exhaust Ejector Company in Shelf Nr Huddersfield for the new skylight . They were excellent. Said no at first but had a second look and decided they could do it. It took nearly a month to do but well worth the wait. According to my fitter this one is much better than the original.

I did. They were excellent, thanks. Made me a new skylight much better than the original. Thanks for your great advice
Sorry to be cheeky but do you mind sharing the price they charged please?

It was supposed to be £350 but I got it a bit cheaper once they saw it. Hobby were going to charge nearly £1500 for one that was inevitably going to fail!
EEC were really easy to deal with when I took my old skylight in. I would definitely use them again.
