It seems that Sky have decided to allow their customers to stream SKY tv to participating countries (nearly all) in the EU using SKY go or some other SKY apps

Broken Link Removed

You do have to tune in from home every now and then but it's still a nice addition.

30 days then you need to stream from home to show you are still a UK resident . I take it that it has to be the same laptop or tablet or can you get someone to stream at your home while your still away ?

I would prefer a longer period and I could forget the dish but this is the start of the satellite disappearing over to streaming from Sky .

As it says “on one of your devices”, all you need to do is make sure one of them remains at home so someone can log into it. They’ll have to sort that one or everyone will do just that.

It’s not allowing me to use the app today in France. Keeps saying out of country not allowed :( Anybody got any ideas?

This might explain why, from Sky help:

‘If you're visiting a country outside of the EU and want to watch Sky content when you're there, you'll need to download content to your device before you go in order to continue enjoying your favourite Sky shows whilst away’

Try sending a text message to Sky on
07403921981 explaining the issue and see if they can help (text only on that number) also you might try just powering off your device waiting a few minutes and powering on again it may help.

What's to stop you using the account of a family member who lives in UK?

Called virgin Media they say it’s sky. Can’t get through to sky atm. Tried the turn off on. No luck.

Just tried the mobile text. Awaiting reply now. Thanks ChrisL(y)

At face value, nothing provided they have the login details. However I don’t suppose it would be difficult to ban simultaneous home and away usage.
On second thoughts though how would that cope with say husband away working while wife stays at home? (Or vice versa before the feminists berate me!)

Ok all. It’s working :dance2: requires app update to work. As I’m with virgin media it now gives sky sports and bt through there app. Happy days:drinks: just connect I phone to tv no need for expensive sat dish as you can get unlimited data calls and txt with virgin for £25 per month

But Fragle, presumably it's Sky channels only and not BBC, ITV etc?

No Hagstrom. Seems like we have the lot. Just tried bbc on I player all ok sports on virgin app. A couple of them like gold said you need WiFi. I just wanted the odd bit of football and f1. Could be the end of expensive sat dishes..(y)
Now anyone have ways of boosting the I phone 4 g signal :) would help

Sounds like the way forward, Fragle. Are you wanting a 4g booster because you're getting buffering of TV reception?

Suppose in a bad phone signal area you will have a problem. Just found the first issue sky channels won’t allow tv connection bbc are ok. Need to find a way around(y)

So are you casting from the phone to your TV.?
I don't think it's possible to cast Sky go from a phone however if your laptop can connect to your tv via hdmi i think that will work.

I’m using data lead and hdmi. It knows that you’re connected to tv and blocking signal. Ok on phone though

Thanks for all that info. It's a very interesting line to pursue.
