Apparently it’s against the Ts n Cs to use it away from the registered home address but what in reality does happen and have any penalties ever been handed down ?
I don’t expect a flurry of answers as it’s quite a niche though interesting question .
My naive opinion is if I’m paying for a UK streaming service why does it matter where I’m streaming it in the UK ?

Get a Raspberry Pi and setup a VPN from your house. No one will be non the wiser.

I’m afraid a little more lay person explanation is needed , I know what a VPN is but the RP is beyond me !

Sorry that was a bit of an acid test, it's not something you would likely be able to do without at least a moderate interest in IT. I have one setup so that when abroad I can access UK services (Netflix, Disney+, PokerStars!).

I have a sky+ box which I use at home, I bring it with me to my static and use it there just the same, sky once tried to get me to change to a newer system but when I said no as that only works off WiFi so wouldn’t work at my static I was told that I shouldn’t be taking it, my reply was as I’m paying for it I will use it wherever I like.

You could use Sky Go on iPad/laptop?
I want it on TV , Apple TV and PS5 for Sky Go are doable as I have both but the on demand of Sky Stream is what I really need .
I’m going to get Sky Stream at home next week and then take it away and stream via Maxview Roam X and see what happens , if Sky get nowty I’ll just drop the lot , their loss , I’ll just go illegal , their double loss .

Take the box everywhere, I pay for it. When in the Motorhome, that’s my home. Never had a problem.

By box do u mean Sky Stream puk? Cheers .

I don’t know how to do it myself but an IT geek friend set up a VPN on his mobile router pointing to his home router so that the link to the outside internet comes from his home ip address so Sky etc think he’s at home. It needs a decent home router to set this up, not ones supplied by broadband providers.

I’ve had issues in France using SkyGo through NordVPN with Nord using a UK server address. Usually this works but occasionally Sky will block that IP address so I need to select another one. My friend has suggested the above fix which I may try if I have a recurrence of this issue when back in France next month.

I don’t have a satellite on the roof of this van just yet, but will definitely put one on. At the moment I have a portable Satellite Dish so when we’re on a site I take the Sky Q box with us.
Previous vans have had a roof mounted satellite and always taken the Sky + or more recently Sky Q box on our travels.
Never had a problem.

l take mine to Spain to use in my property and have done so for donkeys years without problem, l wouldn’t consider contacting Sky if l had a problem whilst there as l imagine they could determine where it was since they can connect to it.
On a previous Motorhome when having a updated box fitted the Sky guy fitted it in the Motorhome with no hesitation.

Can I just clarify when you say box you mean the Sky Stream puck ?
Both the Stream and Glass are tethered to your home address and Sky know if you are using it away from home ( thanks for the info re the router and VPN though I must say I’ve had very little luck with VPNs in Europe for watching SkyGo or BBC )
What I need to know is what actually happens if you use the Stream away from home , box no workey or do Sky send the heavy mob round ? Cheers .

I would think you would get away with a telling off for a 1st offence. I'm in the same boat, have Sky Steam and want to take it away. I suppose they are just trying to stop people taking it round a mates house to watch the footy. I'm tempted to give it a go and plead ignorance.

Sky unpaired my Sky viewing card at random intervals. In the end I cancelled Sky because it became so annoying. I figured Sky were doing this deliberately, so I would have to phone them and they could try to sell me upgrades including Sky Glass.

I don't miss Sky, nor do I miss their costly subscriptions that were raised every year, while the paid content kept shrinking because more channels that I liked kept leaving Sky. I see enough channels on Freesat to keep me entertained. What I save is more than enough to buy several DVD box sets each month.

I suppose for footy fans Sky is a must. I can't see any other compelling reason now to subscribe.

Get an Amazon 4G firestick and a VPN however I have never been able to load the sky go app on it? But we get lots of other apps on it so not worried about Sky😊

Think I will do the same 👍💡

Firestick and £50 per year IPTV subscription and you are sorted.
Exactly what my brother has just suggested , he’s been down this route for years apparently.

I can't get my Amazon 4g firestick to load onto the TV- any tips or tricks?
I normally use my Sky Go on a laptop through a VPN with no problems and am planning to try the Sky stream puck on the TV when abroad in a couple of weeks

My sky subscription is due soon and I will be cancelling, only need decent WiFi my “firestck” does the rest on its 7500 channels!

I have used an iptv provider on firestick in my van for years. So long as you can get a signal from phone or router it works perfectly with far more than just sky offerings. Also get american tv and ppv sports etc

Sorry not really as I just followed the instructions and hey presto it works I do use Nord VPN on it so when in Spain or Portugal I can still get everything😊

Not interested in TV in the van so doesn't affect me, but I have seen these YouTubers go on about VPN let's you watch TV that normally you couldn't in another country ifso why are these VPN things not banned or shut down.

Because virtually everyone working from home uses one to connect to their company IT systems for starters.

The trick is the power supply to it. You plug the firestick into the spare hdmi port on the tv. Then the usb cable plugs in the side of the stick and usually in the usb socket on the tv. However I have seen a few tvs that don't put enough current out of the usb. Some are turned off in the settings. But using the same type of cable you would plug in in the cab, you can power the firestick from a 12v socket

Are there any recommendations for which IPTV provider to use?
Most are very cagey about giving out details, because what they do is not exactly legal in this country. SKY, Virgin & Disney all try to shut them down. People posing as customers get in and they use the login details to hack the suppliers

Do you need to subscribe to Netflix etc as well as the IPTV, or is that why it’s illegal? Thanks.
