Mostly race trucks for the beach race. Motorhomes are on the rise in the motocross fraternity however many are way over their payload as they often shove 2 bikes in the garage along with extra water and pressure washers. A few are specifically built to take them but most are not. That’s why we tow our bikes.

Is there a calendar of/for these beach races? Never been to one, could be time to change that…

There is a website the name of which I can’t recall but if you put Skegness (or Mablethorpe?) Sand Racing into Google I’m sure you’d get a hit. 👍

Yep there is. The dates are set well in advance because they have to go by the tides. They build the track when the tide is out and then race before it comes back in. Makes for interesting viewing. Weymouth is on the 15th of October 2023. The others haven’t been announced as yet. There is also Weston Super mare, Skegness and Barmouth.

As Michelle said they must be competitors vans because theres not a lot of places to park a motorhome. The North car park used to be the only place until they put hight barriers up a few years ago.

Its a annual event in Skegness and attracts lots of visitors, normally the main car parks have height barriers to deter travellers but special events like AMCA motorcross weekend they’re lifted and I’ m sure that AMCA must block book the car park for The competitors mhomes caravans etc.Saturdays event must have a few serious injury’s as the air ambulance helicopter was about a couple of times.

I’ve done quite a few over the years , always on a bike but the last one I did was Blackpool on a quad
Finished 7th , was happy with that as it was my first & last race on a quad
I was pictured in the next years program stuck on the first hill off the beach on lap 1
never did do Weston

I marshalled at WSB and BSB for a while and got to hear about the Weston Beach races so volunteered to marshall there too. It was a crazy weekend with lots of heavy drinking and crazy bike and sidecar racing.....go if you can...take part if you dare. I came home with sand everywhere and I mean everywhere

They could hold a 24 hrrace at Southport as the tide never comes in!!! 😁

As a child my dad did take us to a race at Ainsdale, I was more interested in playing in the sand dunes 😁

I raced in the Weston in 2008 while I was full on in my Enduro career, with over a thousand riders in it, although the Weston is actually a Motocross event and epic it is, almost 100mph along the 1 mile straight to the first corner while keeping the front wheel hovering to stop the sand ripples having you off.
