Hi everyone..apologies for this long one..we are new to motorhoming although did caravan for 20 years , but that was 15 years ago..I have posted before but still struggling to decide on route and stopovers..
We go through the tunnel on tuesday April 25th..14.30..its our first time with a moho..me the wife and a dog..small moho 2 berth 5.8m long..just wondering if any one has any suggestions for nice sites...preferably quiet..we have a camping car park pas d'etapes card
..I have chosen our first stop ( on recommendation ) at neufchatel en Bray ( cant book it ) for one night.. I don't want to drive more than about 2 hrs ish from the tunnel as I'd like to be set before it's dark and id like to stay off toll roads..done that many times in the car ,but staying at hotels....we are away for about six weeks , coming back on June 8th..we intend to take our time getting to guardamar del segura , Spain.. just south of alicante..we are a bit apprehensive as its 1st time..we would maybe like to stay two nights if a place is nice...if we can't get into one stop is there always others close by ?..we are happy to go down the middle or just amble around the coast although I imagine the coast will be busier...also on our return journey ,are there any good stops for the tunnel where we can see a vet for our dog to be checked and wormed...
On another note how do funsters stop all the bloody rattling of pots and pans and cutlery and oven trays etc...if the roads are a bit rubbish , it can be really annoying...
Thank you for any help..

Rattling.

The chain of camping car park aires are worth looking at for stops en route. You can look at the map on their website to see where they are. We used these this winter when travelling to Spain. Cannot remember the names of places they were except Soors Hossegar down near the border. We liked this stop - benches to sit out, toilet block plus less than 10 minutes walk from a lake to walk the dog.

At this time of the year most campsites are open so there will always be somewhere to stop if you don’t like the look of some place. I’d be surprised if any were full at this time of year.

You might be better off using the toll rd from Bolougne to Abbeyville as it does save a lot of time.

Do you intend to stay on any free Aires along your journey? I'm not talking about the motorway Aires/service stations/picnic areas. There are going to be a lot of great free Aires along your route, seems a shame not to take advantage of them ...

and as your only staying for the night before moving on, your money might be better spent in a local restaurant.

If you know your rough route and post it, then I'm sure people will offer and share their 'go to stopovers', and don't worry about not finding anywhere, the French school holidays end this weekend and travelling along the motorways that lead to the coast will be pure delight compared to M25 et al.

We're just finishing a mini tour of Brittany on our way back. The west coast of Brittany has thrown up some fantastic free one night (or longer if you wanted) stopovers for us. Happy to share them if you're going that way.

The one thing I would emphasise is that if you arrive somewhere and don't quite like it or you feel unsure, then move on. P4N and Search4Sites are your friend, as is All the Aires, but a bit too late now for you to get a copy before you go away

Neufchâtel en bray definitely worth a couple of days, there is an aire but also a beautiful campsite next door. Very cheap, bread service and good restaurant. Lovely walk into town , there is a vet for on the way back but expensive we don’t use them any more
