Since Sept ‘21.
Does anyone know of a nice, quiet and spacious site near Lake Annecy? We’ve arrived today at a large site which is heaving, the pitches are small, and it’s really not how we like it - far too ‘cheek by jowl’! Any tips for other sites would be most welcome.

We only ever stay at camping international de lac bleu now. Have done for almost 20 years.

We have a lakeside pitch booked for august

We nearly always use Le Solitaire du Lac, more space, quieter and right on the lake.

We stayed at the municipal site up the hill. Was ok.

Funnily enough, that’s where we are! Literally fully booked tonight - I think we were unlucky with the pitch allocated, but generally pretty packed tight.

TBH i know every site around the lake and that one has bigger pitches for one close to the lake. Some others off the lake are always quieter.

Solitaire also famous for other reasons😔

We stayed here last year -
Camping le Taillefer
Very low key small family run site.
Up a hill , short walk from Lac.

We stayed at Camping du Lac. Nice small site on the other side to Le Lac Bleu. There are also two others near by, La Fonnet and La Chapelle.

There’s also an Aire here too if you get stuck . It’s close to the Lac.

Aire de Camping Car Doussard

We have used Lac Bleu in the past but found the facilities inadequate, especially at weekends, when the French campers flock in. The major asset is the excellent access to the lake.

We preferred 'Camping International du Lac d'Annecy'.

Easy walk into St Jorioz.

Access to cycle track from the rear gate on the site.

Good facilities

Drawback is that the site is on the opposite side of the D1508 to the lake, which means crossing the main rod to access the lake.

It is some years since we visited, so things may have been updated or changed.

One issue really annoyed my mate; a keen cyclist, while staying there, he had a pitch adjacent to the back gate which accessed the cycle path. One fine sunny morning, he awoke and prepared for his morning sprint, only to find that some kind soul had accessed his, and his wife's bikes, and cycled off into the night with them. Even though they were locked and quite secure. Just thought it worth a mention.

Used Lac Bleu and Solitaire. I would certainly choose Lac Bleu if I went back, which is now unlikely
Solitaire access is very tight, but worse was the pitch size. You are sardined in. A German tugger had positioned himself hard up against the rear hedge and we couldn't access the EHU. Low hanging tree branches are a worry.

A word about Annecy. It was a two hour traffic jam, on both times that I have been to Lake Annecy. Some French biker tried to pick a fight with me as he weaved through the traffic. There was hundreds of them and they were incredibly rude if you didn't stop and let them through. Found the people in Annecy unlike anywhere else in France. Clearly they hate tourists!

Very beautiful, but there are other places.
