Hi

Anyone has any suggestions on a suitable radio unit I could fir to my sprinter (2005) cab?

single din as I cannot see a single at of fittiya double due to dash design, or could I ??

Need to have apple car play or way to pair my Apple Music & display Apple Maps onto the screen + reversing camera input.

I’ve seen the Pionner flip out units but… very annoying experience 🥹🥹🥹!

any suggestions is appreciated.

Cheers

I can’t see a single din unit being big enough for an Apple CarPlay screen.

I think the issue would be that the unit sits in a slight recess which may prevent a screen from sitting at the correct angle.

I've got a Sony double DIN version of this - generally pretty pleased with it. I use it for Android Auto. I added a wireless dongle for wireless Android Auto and it's not missed a beat. Just connects automatically when I switch on the ignition with my phone still in my pocket.

Only downside is screen brightness and viewing angle in bright sun which could be better.

If the oversized screen of the single DIN version doesn't interfere with your dashboard controls this could be a contender for you.

This may work. Permanently out but sticks out and up from unit ???

The Sony 9" XAV units sit proud of the dash. They only takes a single DIN slot. They are fairly light on features, but as an Android Auto/Apple Carplay unit, they are very good. Simple and reliable.

Overall, I'm happy with it, good sound and large screen. One issue, it's as if the screen is set up for lhd - the viewing angle isn't as good from the drivers seat (rhd). I do need to make a sunshield out of plasticard as the screen becomes more difficult to see when the sun shines directly on it.

As an alternative, if you've got enough space on the dash, you could consider something like this and keep your existing radio.

Thanks again Robert 😃

We’re still considering the options so that’s very useful cheers

I’m also looking at the pionner AVH Z200DAB as I think I’d prefer the all in one unit option as your Sony unit

Were Pioneer head units the ones people had trouble with due to the power drain?
