Instead of a MIFI unit, I am using an old unlocked phone and set it up as a tether hotspot, plugged into the usb.

I have two sons who are pretty heavy data users. That means that I need a decent Sim only deal, with lots of data, that includes Europe roaming. However, they nearly all come with Fair Usage Policies, that seem to lop off more than half of your total allowance, the minute you emerge from the tunnel at Coquelles. Popit is the only one without a fair use policy, but they aren't particularly cheap.

So has anyone come across a monthly contracted, free roaming, unlimited data with no fair use policy, Sim only, deal? Looked closely at ID Mobile, Popit, Smarty, Lebara and Giffgaff. Only Popit comes close, as far as I can see. Is the best option to buy a card in the EU and use that?

Don't know if still good deals to be had here

Even Lebara France have started to crack down. New customers only get the same as Poppit.

It was 200gb for €25. Now it’s much less data.

I too would be interested in the answer as I have the same issue. With 4 of us it looks like it’s going to cost a fortune in phone use this Easter. :-(

I believe the ones from Tiecom are 300gb ones.and can/could be activated in UK before trip, or paused if part used.
Camino was very helpful when I contacted her last year.

When I was in France last year I got a Free Mobile sim. I went into one of their stores in a hypermarket in Evreux but you can get them from their other shops, list on their web site, or vending machines. you can get it for a month or renewable monthly. From memory the sim cost €5 and for 210gb it cost €19.99. I was there for over 2 months and when I got back changed it online to their €2 pm deal. Just changed back to 210gb monthly using their app as I’m off to France again in a couple of weeks. App is excellent at letting you know how much data you’ve used and we never lost signal. In my view as we knew we would return to France the €2 per month while not using is better value than the hassle of sorting a new one out when we go to France.

Hi can you tell me which sim/network you are talking about as we are going through France mid April then on to Spain .

The network is Free, confusing I know. Open the link in Chrome and it will translate for you. I forgot to say that the sim needs to be 3 months old before you can change the plan so depending on timing you may need to run the 210gb plan for 4 months before you can change to €2.

May I ask how old your sons are ?

Sorry, should have said they will ask for an address in France but you can use the address of a campsite, they don’t bother what the address is as long as they can enter one.

Sure. Eldest is 18, non verbal autism. Younger is 15, semi verbal autism. Both have global learning delay. Data is one of the things that we use a lot of! That and hand soap & apples ::bigsmile:

We’ve been using the 300gb Tiekom card as mentioned earlier. Been fabulous everywhere for just under €40 a month.
There is a 400gb version too I think. Can also roam in the uk with no limits.
Can be parked for €3 a month until next trip. Posted to uk address in advance. Have used throughout France and Spain over two months travelling so far
