We are heading to Portugal 🇵🇹 and I was wondering what people thought, we don't normally pay for site's and we are thinking of having a dabble.

Are you talking about motorhome park silves near the river..I thought it was good. The shopping centre across the way was being refurbed..so the piri piri food places were on the car park...was lovely. Few shops and restaurants around the back streets..

Silves has 3 "aires"... prices vary a bit...

There is Parque do Rio (owned by Filipe assisted by new boy Nelson). It is pretty crowded at this time of year... 50 odd vans packed in pretty tight. A lot of Dutch and many folk are regulars each year so quite a sense of "community" has built up.

A basic shower/toilet block and a washing machine. A short walk into town or shorter one to the Continente supermarket.

Even closer to that supermarket is another "aire" which is less packed in with some outside tables provided for folk and there is an area for the larger RV's.

The third aire is on the other side of town... don't know anything about that one.

People who know (I don't) say the Castle at Silves is one of the best in Portugal.

It has a superb hardware store and a Burger Ranch... :whistle2:

There is a new Lidl store there for you old, poor folk...

Nice "exercise" park which joggers and dog walkers use.

JJ

I concur with everything JJ says, we spend a couple of months there most years at least and choose to use Parque do Rio. Unless they’ve put one in recently there isn’t a toilet there though but there are 2 showers. JJ can correct me if they have changed that I’m sure.

Some people find the spaces narrow and they don’t have capacity for many very long vans. There’s room to park and put your table and chairs out though and the adjacent park is nice with various seating.

We love the town, loads of varied restaurants and such friendly locals. Much less touristy than places along the coast.
