Sikafix 252

I’m just about ready to fit a semi flexible solar panel on the roof of my van with Sikaflex 252 - should I smear it on all over or in lines using a cartridge dispenser gun ? Also how thick should the adhesive be ?

Ladder pattern with regular gaps to allow for ventilation fore and aft and side to side underneath. Thick 10mm beads that compress to no less than 5mm when the panels are gently seated onto them.

When I was fitting our Snipe satellite dish to the roof Sikaflex pointed me in the direction of this if using 252.

Instead of using spacer tape I used 4/5mm rings cut from an old bit of gas hose and stood these on end so the adhesive surrounded and came up through the bore of the ring. This limited the area not covered by adhesive and gave the required bed thickness. It's difficult to maintain the bed thickness unless you use some spacing means.

Adhesive applied in a bead fashion rather than a full bed and then the rings pushed into these beads.

Still on the roof 4/5 years later.
