In relative terms only a small number have failed, I think less than 5,000 from the 2.8m.

All mine have been OK and the oldest one (5yrs old) has done over 30,000km.

Funnily enough a brand new Ultegra crank set arrived yesterday at home, should be ok though as it is hopefully a post 2019 manufacture

Seems Shimano have set up a decent process with LBS so you can get the crank checked.
