That shows a total lack of understanding of dog ownership. I am so glad I not so blinkered. By the way, although I don't have a dog now I have had several over the years, never talked to them in a silly baby like voice and I was never their daddy. and they never, ever caused any trouble to anyone else by yapping, posing, or peeing, neither did they cause any annoyance, because I was a responsible dog owner. There are some out there contrary to what the moaners sayI am so glad I don't have any need, psychological, physical or other, to "own" another living thing, restricting its movement by tying it to a bit of cord as I walk around with it, occasionally talking to it in a silly, baby like voice, whilst claiming to be its "Daddy".

She’s WelshCan you get your wife to train the English rugby squad how to drop kick?
Oh. So she won’t know how to either! She’s Welsh
l might not use the baby voice but l refer to my little fellas as, Lad,Son,Bud,Mate, furry creature, beautiful boy, he has no idea what the hell l am saying but does know they are kind words, and l love the little fella and not afraid to stand up and say so. Good job you never met our Romy then, being a cross Staffie/Greyhound she had the 'unfortunate' Greyhound trait of liking to stick her nose where the human sun don't shine! It caught many people off-guard who thought they were being 'felt-up' by a stranger before realising it was just a friendly doggy which apparently was quite a relief!I am not keen on having a cold and wet dog nose on my legs. Especially if it has just been up another dog's arse.
Owners or dogs? Its the constant yapping of the small noisy ones that grinds my gears. No need
Fully agree mate. Please don't go all " he is an animal hater and thus a lesser human being" on me, I am not an animal hater, just a hater of lack of consideration for others.
It's not just camping sites suffering from dog owners with untrained and often unsuitable, uncontrolled dogs. Leaving the poo/pee issues aside, bad as they are......
Go to any beach/park/public recreation space, or worse still Nature Reserve (the clue to dog unsuitability is in the title) and some dogs will be running about off the lead with either uninterested owners some distance away, or the owners shouting continually and fruitlessly for the dog to return to them. Professional dog walkers with too many dogs to manage will also be there.
It appears to me that some dog owners think that because they love their "fur babies" then everyone else must love them too.
I don't have a dog for numerous reasons, such as;
I have been fairly well bitten by a doberman, despite me telling the owner that I thought it was going to attack me if I dared to move. Apparently she ( the dog) wouldn't attack me as she "has never, ever bitten anyone and is a big softy, she loves the kids".... maybe the doberman just liked the look of my leg and gave it some love via the medium of teeth, jaw pressure and blood-letting then? My own fault obviously, I found out after the event, for being a tall man as she's " not too good with tall men". I was petrified and it was very sore.
There is always a first time for a wolf- descendant biting someone.
Unfortunately I am allergic to most furry creatures.
I also like to keep my trousers/tops clean, which is difficult when a dog is " just being friendly" by running up to me ( often scaring me) and proceeding to continually jump up on me while I pirouette to avoid my face potentially being bitten off and/or avoid having to brush the dog off, the latter of which involves me having to wash my hands before I touch my face and eyes ( allergy). Not easy on a nature reserve in the middle of nowhere.
When in shorts, in a pub or elsewhere, I am not keen on having a cold and wet dog nose on my legs. Especially if it has just been up another dog's arse. See above re problems with me brushing off dogs. Not keen on dog drool or them begging for my food either.
Don't even get me started on barking. Peaceful beaches, campsites, parks, nature reserves are often disturbed by incessant barking.
I understand the pleasure folk get from looking after their free-loading canine lodgers, and I understand the companionship these mini-wolves provide, but wouldn't it be nice if all dog owners could spare a thought for us non-dog owners.
(Same applies to owners of uncontrolled brats, noisy cars which seem to only seem able to accelerate fully or stop suddenly, and those who think we all like their favourite music).
Just saying.
…and small noisy dogs too……Its the constant yapping of the small noisy ones that grinds my gears. No need
No but you have paid for it.Problem is you don't own the pitch.
Ah a fifty yarder I bet, see of you can get your good lady to play for the up coming Lions tour, yeeeehaaaa.I see getting upset if someone walks across your pitch a bit like getting possessive over a prostitute
Some one else will be using it tomorrow!
I have however, seen my wife drop kick a poodle off our pitch once, big spiral in the air! It crapped on our pitch, Lyn tried to grab it as it was hunkering down for a second dollop and it bit her.......Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! it went!
Its owners upped stumps and left
I've had my dog lying down, tethered on the pitch, minding her own business. As I've trained her to do.
And other dog owners insist on coming onto the pitch 'because their dog wants to say hello'.
So frustrating.
We're in Ayrshire, had a great time, no issues with dogs, ours or others, but we don't do sites so aren't 'captive' having to put up with such annoyance because we've paid to be there so have to stay. Yesterday afternoon we stopped at the large New England Bay picnic area (next to the CCC site - you drive through the picnic area to get to it) in order to stop the night, our dogs had a mad half hour of play, a bit of excited barking and growling (in fun), nicking each other's toys etc before slobbing out for a rest, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, no issues at all from the occupants of the other 2 MHs there - we couldn't have done that on a site, maybe a CL/CS. I'm not knocking it if you like sites but we don't however I agree that if people do use sites they should totally respect other people's pitches, peace etc.It must be a country wide epidemic. We've been touring for over 35 years and there now appears to be a dog owner problem. We are up in Ayr and the dog owners dont appear to give a damn. Crapping on the pitch dividers and allowing there pets to bark unhindered to the annoyance of neighbours. We are dog owners but feel ashamed about these idiots giving all dog owners a bad name.
Yep youre right, you don’t own the pitch, however that patch of land is what you have paid for,,if you rented a holiday home with a decking area and some numpty walked across your decking,,would you be happy? Same thing reallyProblem is you don't own the pitch.
I'm sorry for your son and there is no excuse for a dog to bite a human without a VERY good reason (eg dog being abused), but why, after the first incident, did your son go near dogs again? No. 1 child has been bitten by 3 different dogs who we were told wouldn't hurt a fly.... He didn't do anything wrong when he was with them; they just snapped and bit him.
Although I am a dog owner I totally agree, when dogs are socialising both owners should be concentrating on them and not other things so to approach you when you are not able to do so it wrong, but doing it when there is food around is extremely stupid as even calm dogs can become agitated when food is on the go.I resent having "friendly" dogs turn up and try and socialise when I am doing other things, such as cooking or eating and I don't understand why owners think that I should enjoy the presence of the dog or mind if it eats or sniffs around my food. I like dogs and have had a few but if owners can't control their dog(s), they shouldn't get up set when I do.
My son trusted the owners who said their dogs were really gentle etc. they also encouraged him to say hello to the dogs. The last occasion he was ignoring the dog, just trying to walk past it and the dog bit him.I'm sorry for your son and there is no excuse for a dog to bite a human without a VERY good reason (ie dog being abused), but why, after the first incident, did your son go near dogs again?

...but you have rented the pitch for your exclusive use for the contracted period.Problem is you don't own the pitch.
It isn't necessarily a new breed of owners. I nearly had fisty cuffs with a crumpy gunt who upset when i used my knee to push his dog away from me and my petrified son. The dog had walked out of a lake, stood next to us, shook itself dry and tried to lick my lad who was cowering behind me (this was within a month or two of a dog bite event). The owner refused to call his dog off so I pushed it away. The elderly owner stormed up to me and threatened to deck me if I touched his dog again.I think everyone needs educating on this matter,,,I love dogs,I’ve had many, and the only reason I don’t have one now it the overwhelming feel of lose when they go,,,but all dogs are individuals and have have their own minds, irrespective of how well they are trained,,joe public should never approach a dog without the owners permission, and likewise, if the owner knows the dog can be lively,,put it on a lead,,infortunately there seems to be a new breed of owners that don’t give a sh*t,and think their dogs can do what they like,,,the owners are the problem.
