We are thinking of selling our current mh fitted with self levelling and a tow bar, the question is do we remove the system from our current mh and refit to the new, adria to possible burstner or buy new? Would its resale value be affected by removing these before sale, does a dealer take these into account when giving a value for trade in

Having bought our last 4 vans brand new, removed most of the extras as found very little difference in the trading price.

That was my thinking, a price for the base vehicle and the extras only make it more saleable on a forecourt, would any 1 know if it is a diy job to remove self levelling then pay an installer to install and set up?

Last motorhome I part exchanged at Camper UK they gave a third of the cost of the bit ticket extras i.e. self levelling, lithium etc.

That's something to talk to them about then as they would be the nearest burstner dealer to us, reviews say they are good to deal with. Cheers steve

In my time as a dealer (not m/homes) I'd reduce my trade-in offer in order to give me negotiating room on whatever the seller was expecting for any extras.

I’ve read somewhere that the levelling kit installers charge £1k to remove than another £1k to reinstall on a fresh vehicle. Sounds expensive but when you consider a brand new kit is c£7k, providing the kit is in good condition swapping is a no brainier.
I’m sure the same could be said of the tow bar.

Give the installer of the levelling kit a call. They should be able to quote to remove and refit.

The other thing that dealers may take into account re the extras is how were they fitted diy or company as they have to warrant the van depending on price etc.

Basic maths isn't it?
Find out how much value you would lose on the PX? Add in the cost of removal and installation on new vehicle.
Compare this to the price of fitting new and take into account the new warranty?

I suspect tow bar is not worth taking off. Batteries perhaps are, levelling kit may go either way as I suspect it will be a ballache to remove and the installers would probably prefer to fit new so won't give you much of a discount for providing the second hand parts.
