I have a self built motorcycle box trailer, I’ve had it a good few years and have in the past taken it to Spain, I’ve just given it a refurb with new tyres new floor, it has 155x13 tyres, it’s a braked trailer but not over 750kg, my question is can I legally use this in the EU as rules seem to have changed, but will it effect my old trailer?.
I just can’t get any hard facts, lots of guesses from people as what might be the law

I too have a box trailer made before the regs changed and as I understand it if it’s legal in the home country it is legal in the eu. After all, look at some of the wrecks the French tow behind themselves.

After seeing some complete sheds loaded to the max ( mainly polish and Lithuanian)waiting at Dover to cross to France , there shouldnt be any problem with a well maintained trailer.

Wouldn’t that also apply to toads??
Isn’t it something to do with the Vienna convention, I was told by someone who asked the German police (they got pulled with a toad, then took it higher at the local police station with the road traffic inspector who took no action with the toad, in fact he gave them his personal number and said if they get pulled again in Germany give them this number🤷‍♂️) that if it’s legal in the U.K. they can’t stop it elsewhere!
It was just a conversation, I have NO intention of ever having a toad so I’ve no interest in the legalities but it might be worth checking the Vienna convention on the subject, especially if you get pulled with one!

Do not take my word as I’m a certified idiot, do your OWN research on the subject

Twoleftfeet Is this what you are looking for ?

Commercial usage (ie reward) would seem to be the key :)
