imaportugal.com has the following entry:-

'The toll collection from the A4 motorway will be abolished from the new year, 1 January 2025. Some of the other motorways and roads will also be exempted from toll tax. These roads are A4 (Transmontana and Túneldo Marão), A13 and A13-1, A22, A23, A24, A25. Some sections of the road A28 are also exempted from toll tax. This section of A28 is located between Esposende and Antas and between Neiva and Darque.'

Has anyone driven on any of the motorways mentioned above and can confirm that the tolls have indeed been rescinded?

I haven't, but I'm sure you'll be ok.

The change was long in the making and well-publicised and I've read articles from the last week or so to say it's been implemented. Including people who commented that their toll tags have now stopped beeping on the A22.

Splendid- that might be why the toll registering booths were not working on the A 25 last week.

We paid 4 fines (or was it 5) our last trip to Portugal.
Won't be any more fines as we wont be going again (not because of the fines which were minimal)

I live there. The via verde transponder no longer beeps on my local routes.

It’s ONLY ON SOME of the “electronic” over the motorway gantry routes that things have changed. Some are still chargeable and ALL of the other “take a ticket, pay on exit” are still tolled.

Changed happened in 1st Jan this year, and I seem to remember a chat with you about the system!

Drove A22 from Albufeira to Tavira today, cameras are still on gantries but costs for vehicle classes on signs have been removed.
Yep, the law which made the change actually required the authorities to dismantle the charging systems “to ensure there was no incentive to reintroduce them”.
