My wife and I are looking to get our first motorhome and are looking at the Dethleffs Advantage. We wondered if anyone has opinions on this or any other MH's that we should consider. We only want something fairly small as it is just the 2 of us and our dachshund (who surprisingly takes up a lot of room). We like rear bed layout or rear lounge that converts into a double bed. Our budget is £40k.

Hello, yes, we sold our 2016 7051EB Advantage earlier in the year, for reasons unconnected with the vehicle. We found it to be a well built MH and with the 150bhp engine, no slouch either, although at 7.2m long, I wouldn’t have considered it small, although anything much less would imho be uncomfortable. We spent 3 months in it last year touring France with a bit of Spain and Belgium thrown in and thoroughly enjoyed it. Points to watch, despite DETHLEFFS reputation for quality, are the vinyl seats, which started to melt at the seams whilst driving through Carcassonne in 35 degree temperatures - if we had kept it a retrim in half leather would have been on the cards. Another common issue is the habitation Control panel 12 and 240V power indicator Lamps - when they fail, a new panel is required as they are not individually replaceable, although doesn’t actually stop anything else working so I left ours. One last thing, identify where and what the fresh water pump Is and buy a spare.
Happy Motorhomeing

We had a Dethleffs Globebus T7, loved it, well built and served us well, only thing was I found seating uncomfortable and took it to Regal upholstery and then it was perfect. I found our Carthago seating uncomfortable too, so hard. Just bought a Florium and seating so comfortable
