Hi all,

I'm Rens, new to the forum, and have been camping all my life (22 years so far).

Currently, I'm enrolled in a bachelors in tourism, studying abroad. As part of my course, I'm interning at an organisation in the camping industry and working on a project. I'm keen to gather insights from motorhome and caravan owners on several topics, and this forum looks like just the spot :)

I've prepared a questionnaire which should take a maximum of 10 minutes to fill (probably less). It would really help me if some of you can take the time to fill it out. For those interested, I'm more than happy to share the findings with you afterwards. In case of any further questions don't hesitate to send me a message :)

The survey mainly focuses on your preferences for campsites / camper spots and your approach to the orientation and booking process (if you book in advance).

You can find the questionnaire here: https://www.survio.com/survey/d/K1W1S7W1O6L4O4L7Y

Hoping for your cooperation and thanks in advance,
Rens

Obviously doesn't know how fast replies come on on fun.

But WHO is the 'Camping organisation' he is doing the internship with?
C and CC or C and MH , or some other group?
Maybe the answer is within the website address and the questionairre, but I am NOT opening that!

Welcome and good luck.
I'd help but such is the nature of today's internet content/potential for fraud that for several years I haven't opened any links to sites unknown to me although the OP seems genuine enough.

The OP's avatar flag is for the Netherlands.

Yes it is.
But the original post says he is
' studying abroad' , so I took it that it might mean studying in the UK, for a UK organisation , but that He was not from the UK.
OR conversely, could be a UK citizen studying to complete his masters whilst working in Holland for a Dutch (?) organisation.
Who Knows, but I am still NOT opening that Web address.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies so far and let me try take away any scepticism.

I'm indeed studying in the NL, interning at a Dutch organisation (operating on a European level). I'll ask tomorrow first thing in the morning if it's okay to share the name (I can't see how it wouldn't be, but idk it might be sensitive).

Survio is a well known survey tool, existing since 2012, no virusses there (even though that's probably what I'd say if I was a scammer so I get the scepticism). Of course it's good to be wary of unknown links. If it helps I can communicate something through the company socials? (if it's an OK from my supervisor tomorrow).

Thanks again for the replies so far!

Soooooo, whats the update on this thread then.
Been nearly a week now for an answer .
I suspect he may well have been refused to disclose who he wants the info for, or that they have some sort of no-no policy regarding using social media and forums by employees in conversations relating to their employer.
A bit nieve of the poster I think.

Paying for full membership of lots of different forums might be beyond a student’s budget. Interns are often unpaid.

Not enough info supplied

I'd be happy to help but seems a bit random with insufficient I formation available to participants.

I agree. Sadly all to a common problem with university students who think doing a survey gives them all they need for a project. Come across it all the time on two technical forums I use. One of those (Theatrical Tech) gets several a week at certain times of year, all asking the same questions, and clearly little understanding of the issues. The posted locations indicate they are all at the same Uni, and probably all on the same course. It shows either naivety on behalf of the student, or poor (or lazy) tutoring, (or both). I seems that the tutors ask them to research an area and suggest they find an on-line forum in the field, prepare a survey and the answers will flow in. The truth is that all those actively working, and on the forum, ignore them as a lot of 10 minutes add up when you have a job to do. So they funnily enough get responses from those new, or studying the industry, or the old f*** like me who per only amateur's and are probably out of date anyway.

We suggested to one Uni a few years back that they create a sensible and meaningful questionnaire with input from some forum members. That would then be posted for replies, that most regulars would do so they would have a wealth of information and different experiences, focussed on the actual issues in the industry. Students could then draw off in the particular sub field they were interested in. If that generated a new question in the mind of the student, they could post it as a question on the forum, (having searched to see if it had already been posted and replied too) and, provided it wasn't too frequent, receive sensible replies. The opinion of the assembled unwashed on the forum is that it was too much trouble, so every year the same poorly constructed questionnaires arrive taking no more than ten minutes!

To pick up just one small point, we, and I suspect most Funsters don't 'typically' do anything. It's probably the greatest joy of having the flexibility of going when and when you want. Stay a while if you like it, move on if not. Nearly all the questions ask what we typically do.... we don't so I gave up.

I believe most people with a specific skill set or experience are happy to share it to the benefit of those studying. However, when you leave the participant guessing what the question is really about.!!!!!!

Sorry, I'll shut up now.

We didn't do it but offered to as it would be a whole lot less effort, yet all that knowledge and skills to be passed on.

The problem with that particular field is that all theatres run on casual crew who are paid by the hour. The number of tech staff is tiny especially will the Arts being hit had again with cutbacks.

So the experience is out there, but a four hour get in or 1.5 get out leaves no time to sit doing surveys. When a show is running, crew are usually on hand a max 1 hour before and 30 mins afterwards.

Get called to plot the lighting in a show may take a couple of hours. Rigging can take hours but is again very carefully managed to minimise cost. Some turing companies do little more than hire the space bringing their own tech, some use venue tech but the are rarely full-time. Many have other jobs that they work around.

We have 4 theatres on Ipswich but none has full-timers apart from a technical manager that covers two venues.

To get access to the theatre a friend of mine worked as a volunteer in the theatre for 2 years worked hard and was rewarded with the information required.
When I did mine I knocked on doors and got access to owners. Operators and directors through persistence and determination

It seems to me these days the easy option is the scatter gun approach and send out a survey.

Makes me think how valid and authentic the research is.

I was asked to carry out a survey recently and the questions were so intrusive my answers may not have been truthful

In fact I'm still waiting for social services or the police to knock the door
