I've seen people drilling a hole in the rotating seat base and deploying an oxford patriot disc lock. I'd rather not drill any holes in my seat base (2019 Fiat cab). What other options are there? I don't have anything to attach a chain and padlock to when the seat is spun round. Any ideas?

Cheers

This is one of the original threads about it showing a few other options as well.

I don't see why you don't want to drill a hole, only takes a few minutes and makes a nice neat job with the lock easy to fit.

If facing rearwards they will just wind the seat down as much as possible and sit on it. They will not care about damaging the seat. 90° would not work either as could still sit down. 45°?

Reading the thread above, that had occured to me. My thinking is that if the seat is facing the wrong way when somebody looks in the window, along with the other security measures I have in place, that should hopefully be enough to put them off and move on to another van. Besides, my seat has a place for a padlock, which I didn't realise what it was for until I read the thread above (see https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/swivel-seat-security.209917/post-4216444). Also the leisure battery is under the driver's seat so there may not be enough room to get a patriot lock in there. I'll check it later.

I made the above alteration to an Autosleeper Palermo a few years ago. The lock would have been very difficult to remove without a key and the van could not have been driven with the seat reversed.

The patriot lock when fitted to the rear of the seat base [ 2019 Fiat] by drilling the 14mm hole allows only a couple of cm of movement.
I had already removed the plastic louvre to make a space to mount my inverter, right next to the battery, and made my own vented panel to mount it on. Obviously, with time and determination nothing is insurmountable for the scrotes, but this seems a really effective deterrent, and my go to quick attachment if leaving the van, along with the steering wheel lock. 20211120_102649.jpg

Thinking further, perhaps just have the seat turned facing backwards, slid fully forward and wound back tight against the steering wheel. Wrapping a long chain several times around the seat back and steering wheel. Just need a chain and padlock.

A small reality check. A friend lost their bikelock key, took around ten seconds to cut it off with my cheap Lidl battery angle grinder. Was not that noisy either.
