Secondhand MH values in 2 years ?

I did read elsewhere that sales of caravans and MHs increased by 150%. That's a very big bulge in the market.
It hasn't been matched by a corresponding increase in available pitches. Newbies with families who want a fortnight staycation in 2021 to replace their package holidays might struggle with availability. A big increase in the cost of an all-singing and dancing UK 5 Star Holiday Park holiday in peak season is looking likely which will take the shine off things.

Anyway who knows how many of those impulse buys using finance will go pear-shaped when Rishi Sunak can no longer borrow more to subsidise jobs that in reality no longer exist.

If i sell today and get a high price i will expect to pay a high price for the replacement, just as if i wait i may get less for mine in 2 years but will also expect to pay less for the replacement, and if it all goes pearshaped, at least i will have something concrete to moan about!

Absolutely no idea but if we see a nice new motorhome that we like in a couple of years and can afford it then I expect we will buy it much like we normally do. A close friend I was chatting to 2 weeks ago who thought he was getting over Covid suddenly deteriorated and is on a ventilator unlikely to survive, only 60 so it sort of puts things in perspective.

More to worry about come 2030 I think. But by then i probably won't care much having a fairly old (62 plate) van that won't be worth that much anyway. And being 4250kg version, there's probably not too many people out there with a license to drive it.
I'll probably get a bag of crisps and a mars bar.

I may be able to do something about it , ive had serious problems with my MH so might be looking to replace it , I am building a new house for myself so won’t be in a position to use it much , hence to questions
Hi Scotch mist
In answer to your first question about prices in two years time no one has the answer but we can all surmise. My personal opinion is that the second hand market will be flooded with those who tried it as a result of 2020 and got bored. For new vans, there will always be a market, but with the choice of such a good stock of good quality used vans, the manufacturers may lose some volume but like any business will seek to at least maintain margin, I.e price increases. Couple that with Brexit and the redress of available finance post COVID then I think that used prices will fall in the shorter term. But that’s only my opinion.
Given to what you should do, then I think that you answered that question yourself above. If the current market is high and you have little opportunity to use the van for 2 years, then get shot and readdress when you are able to enjoy it. One thing is certain and that is a new van now won’t appreciate over the next two years.
Good luck with the house build - sounds really exciting 👍

Prices might slow a bit, but motorhome ownership has been growing fast since fun was formed nearly 14 years ago, never stagnating, never slowing, just growing. Yes there might be a few bargains to be had as a couple of thousand people sell their motorhomes, but that will be no more than a tiny, tiny, covid blip in the ever growing popularity and price of the modern motorhome.

This is my view too, I don’t think they will be cheaper in a year or so but come down to the values they were before Covid...

well here’s hoping anyway...

The market is artificially high at the moment yes, not so good for first time buyers but great news for anyone looking at upgrading. Used values are through the roof. Put it this way, I would love to be able to buy a van at Glasses book value but at the moment if I offered any of you that you would spit at me!
We have instances now where the used van is worth more than the customer bought it for.

You see people lose 15k a year on some very expensive Germans .
I lost 6k in 3 years, if I had traded it in the UK I would have lost 18k and had to pay 10k more for the new van that's why I won't buy from UK dealers.
