Hi everyone we've just joined this community. Looks like everyone is really helpful.
We are travelling to Spilt Croatia in May for a sailing event. We are looking for a small on the cheaper side with electricity site. ? We have been recommended one in Strobec but it'll looks like it might £400 for 12 nights and not really what we are looking for. Does anyone know of one please We are very happy with pretty basic. Thanks

Croatia sites can be expensive as they know it’s illegal to wildcamp so you should have to use sites🤷‍♂️
But very envious of your visit, have a good time👍👍

Hi
I believe sites in Croatia are quite expensive. The app Camper Contact shows some motorhome parking on aire type carparks at 20 € night but 12 days is a long time for that sort of site with perhaps no shade and no grass.

ACSI card will be useful to you in May for discount camping.
Sites in Croatia can be very expensive, in July and August the prices go 100+ pound.
I've never made it down as far as Split, always seem to run out of time enjoying myself further north in Croatia.
If you're looking for places on the way down I'd recommend the paid aire at Senj.
Park on quay inches from small beach, great views and a nice town too.
The national parks are also not to be missed.

We went to Keil for the sailing festival a few years ago. It was very difficult to get pitches even in January for May and prices were put up accordingly.

Croatian sites are expensive, but not so bad out of season with an ACSI card. The price you quote doesn't sound too bad.

We had a few days in Split last month. We stayed at the campsite down the coast in Trogir (Should still be ACSI rates in May) and caught the small passenger ferry each day from Trogir harbour into Split. The ferry docks on the quay right in the centre of the city. Easy and relaxing way to arrive.

Trogir itself is interesting. It's very much a mini version of Split.

While you're there I'd recommend a walk out of the centre of Split onto the Marjan Park peninsula for the views from The Cross viewpoint on Telegrin Hill. A half day or so excursion.

Camping Stobrec is a beautiful campsite with excellent facilities and easy bus access into Split. This years ACSI rates are 23€ a night Jan to June and Sept to December. I would highly recommend it MOLO

Probably the best quality site we stayed on in Croatia

We were in Split in May this year.
There are several camp sites around Split, none are cheap.

The only one that is actually within cycling and bus range of Split is Camping Stobrec
There is a regular bus service (about 3-4 per hour) right outside the gate.
(Also a small supermarket, van wash and tyre place)

All the rest are a long way out of town, so what you may save on camp fees elsewhere you will loose on taxi fares and/or spending hours on local buses.

Stobrec also has it's own beach, so depending on what sort of boating event you are attending, boats can be launched or people picked up direct from the beach.

Wherever you are going you need to book ASAP (within the next 2-3 weeks) as the Germans all book ahead and all the sites will be fully booked for the high season this side of Xmas.

You aint seen nothing yet!

Stobrec is a nice site, but not even in our top 5 best sites in Croatia!

Some of the 'resort' sites in Istria were fantastic
We stayed at two, each for 3-4 nights.

Beach or pool ?
Which pool, lengths only pool, kids pool with all the slides etc, or the sun lounger pool ?

Restaurant ?
Sure, which one, Thai, Indian, Italian ? No I rather fancied the Tyrolean one !
And if you can't be bothered to walk the 100m to the restaurant, they will deliver!

Bar?
With or without kids, beer and wine only or the cocktail bar, beach bar or pool bar, or the lounge bar with piano player

Events:
Scuba, multiple bus tours, sailing, SUP, off road driving, bike rental, films, etc.

It was like staying in a large 4 star hotel, but you bought your own room.
It's not a place I'd go for two weeks, but for a three or four nights in a six week tour it was amazing.

We have stayed at a few sites in Istria but don’t recognise any of them in your description of facilitie, which sites are you referring to? We loved Istria and will no doubt return one day 😊

Might be worth looking up Marina Kastella, a few miles north of Split. I think they allow motorhome parking, with the usual marina facilities for something like 20€/day. We’re travelling there in May as well and plan to park the camper there for a week while we go on a mini cruise.

Here you go
This one Camping Zelena laguna and this one Stellplatz Blue

Both are aimed at the German motorhome market, but when we were there there were a fair few Dutch, and quite a lot of Italians as well as a handful of Scandinavians, Brits and French. Even a Czech family in a tent from the 1960's

Gosh the Czechs had been there a very long time 😄
But thank you very much I will have a look.

Just be prepared to be over budget for just about everything as we were astonished how much prices had gone up in only a couple of years when we were there in June. On the other hand it's a beautiful country and the people are friendly.

Camping Stobrec Split

ACSI rate (out of season) for 2023 was €23 per night.

Unfortunately this is not yet confirmed on ACSI's website for 2024.

Another thumbs up for Camping Stobrec.
Stayed there for two weeks when we did our European tour. Right on the beach, lovely restaurant on the site and a few just 10 minutes walk away. Beautiful location and perfect for Split, which is also lovely. Make sure you give yourself time to visit the castle in Split. As said, use ACSI for 23E a night. Excellent value for money.

Hi we have emailed and it seems to have gone up to 27€ but that is still much cheaper than without the card. We have now paid our deposit ☺️ so thanks to you all for the help and advise.
