Looking for recommendations for 90 day or over, away from home insurance.
With nationwide at the moment they want to double our policy for over 61 day cover away from home
Thanks for your help

I found 'Getsafe' the best deal for 60 days. They may do a 90 day I am not sure.

Devitt offer 90 days but that may be restricted to CAMC members?

We're with Sky Protect for 60 days away at a time max (can't extend).

Don't forget to go through TopCashBack or Quidco for some extra dosh from them.

Sorry, was reading two threads at once and got you mixed up with someone asking about over 30 days travel insurance! :giggle:

Aviva charged us an additional £30 to extend from 30 to 90 days unoccupied. They redrafted the proposal, which needed checking as there were errors, outlining the conditions.

We have 90 days with the Caravan and Motorhome Club but you have to ask for it.

We use M&S insurance. 90 days as standard. Reasonable price.

Be careful ... we had a small extra premium to pay when we extended ours but the cover is drastically reduced for the extra time period ... make sure you read all the small print especially about what isn't covered, in our case it was no cover for vandalism unless we were also burgled so for example if some idiot crashed into our wall and did a runner it would mean we had no cover for repair/rebuilding. Once we thought about the lower level of cover we decided the risk just wasn't worth it and stuck to the 60 days we already had with full cover.

LV do up to 180 away but you need to ask, also if you are a member of Boundless your premium will be substantially discounted.

If you are a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club their home insurance covers for up to 180 days away. C&CC Home Insurance
That's the other one I was trying to think of earlier! I did consider them as they came in cheaper than others but still expensive and it meant joining the 'club' which we wouldn't use otherwise. The benefit with them was better than extending a lower days provider as they gave you full cover for the whole 180 days, no reduction in provision.

With the situation with home/Mum etc we just stuck to 60 days.

For many years our main reason for joining the CAMC was to get their extended away from home cover. Now we use Admiral which is cheaper and covers us just as well for 90+ days. There are a couple caveats in that you need to leave your heating on frost control if you are away during the winter, and you need someone to check the house in your absence. I think the same caveats applied to the previous policy. I’m not sure if you need to advise them of your extended trip, but they would make that clear.
