Hi

I’m currently refreshing all the seals on the roof of this 2005 Burstner.

And the gaps (mostly) between the rear bumper & body walls + some between the side skirts and body walls are making me worry of potential water ingress seeping behind😫

The Motorhome had some damp repair carried out around 6 months ago as it was found the end comers under the garage floor were damp.

So im thinking (and worrying)… where the water ingress came from ?

Should this gaps be sealed ??

If so what’s best to use to be effective but also look good ?

Thanks

We have a 69 Plate Burstner Harmony 690g & those areas around the Rear Bumper on ours are not Sealed so I'm thinking that's how the Van left the Factory & probably don't need it 😀

Personally I would seal them regardless. You’ll not do any harm by sealing. I don’t know the construction methods used on your van. If you do seal it all you are doing is stopping water running between your van sides /skirts making it run off well below the van floor joint. Lots of vans sides usually sit on the floor but not knowing how your van is made it can only be a good thing. Make sure you use masking tape and do a fine line of sealant 😉
Don’t use Silicone. I would use something like Puraflex 40

Puraflex is made by Sikaflex and half price 😉
Not sure how much / long you have used Sikaflex but I have used hundreds of tubes of Puraflex over more than 10 years and never had a problem.
