Sea fishing in Spain

I understand that a license is required to fish in the sea from the shore in Spain.
Has anyone been asked to show there licence by the police or other official.

I've not fished in Spain but I've seen plenty fishing ...... and not catching anything.
My advice is eat the bait.

Like most rules here your unlikely to be approached I seen plenty fishing in the marina where there's more signs than you could shake a stick at.

Only got a few spare minutes to reply as I'm busy gutting my morning catch, off tomorrow to the Award ceremony in Madrid to be televised on national TV in Greenland, I've been awarded "Fisherman of the year 2024"..

You should have a current license to fish anywhere in Spain...even off the shoreline.,you can buy one from the Municipality Town Hall where you are staying..it costs very little...but to obtain a licence you also need, third party insurance too....you know where this is going?
Not many Spanish have such licence...I have...mine is Free because I'm a pensioner and an excellent spinner..
So bottom line is YES...
A shore license is valid for the whole of Spain...Boat, spear gun licence different category.... different one needed..
