Scotland’s First Aire is coming soon to Loch Katrine – ready by the end of June.

Spent the day there a couple of times and remarked that it would make a good overnight place. Nice to see something is happening.

Don't you guys be p**in' in the watter!
That's where oor supply cums frae.(y)

anybody found the charges yet? cant see them obviously on the web site

photos look good though, but will be interesting to see how UK campers get on with overnighting 2' away from their neighbours, I reckon there will be some parking bay wars with folk parking over 2 bays o_O

OK for those that have tried it the continental way, but I suspect there will be a few who go here who haven't

Is it just me or do others think that having the ability to book defeats the object of aires. Next thing you know is that they will be booked for every weekend through the summer. I thought aires were for touring.

can't find them either, but suspect it will be around £12 - £15 + pay by card for 16A electric hook up

and then wait till they arrive after prepaying to find they have just enough room to open their door, I hope it works, we love the aire system in France, but there are a few stop offs now appearing in Scotland listed on camper contact, they are more akin to the aires we know but with a little more relaxed parking, but usually no facilities

And worse, arrive to find the MH bays full of cars.

Charges- called today not due to open till end of August prices £20 per night with services hook up and water £12 for no services, jury is out on this one!

Thought aires were supposed to be cheap and cheerful. Water and waste, no electric. Max 3 nights in busy season.
And cheaper.
If you want or need more facilities, use a campsite. At least give us the option.

Probably cost three times more than a camp site
And the prices are in line with a camp site

That's excellent news, especially in the wake of the clampdown on wild camping in this truly beautiful area. Bring it on & may this Aire bring prosperity to local businesses.
Frome wat I see it's a bit pricey for just parking
It a motor home camping place more expensive or on par with a CL

Not really an aire then is it:(

The idea that most aires in France are free is a complete myth.

The ones in the middle of nowhere that nobody wants to visit might be but the ones in popular tourist areas aren't - Honfleur, Chamonix, Sainte Maxime, Saintes Maries de la Mer and Port de Dinan are just a few that immediately spring to mind without looking that all charge more than €10 per night. Even the Funster mecca of Gravelines is €7.

Go to Belgium and Bruges aire is either €19 or €25 depending on the time of year which is more expensive than the nearest campsite and it tends to be packed even out of season.

Go to Germany and most Stellplatz operators know how to charge.

I'm not familiar with this place in Scotland but if it's as popular as the owners seem to think then enough people will happily pay the fee so that they won't have to care in the slightest about the people that think it's too expensive. If they've over estimated their popularity they will either be empty all the time or they will adjust their prices. Time will tell.

@NickNic is spot on, today we are on the Stellplatze in Koblenz, it's €15 per night, max 3 nights, happy to pay as it's such a great location .. and it's full, with a queue to get on every morning .. It's part of the campsite which would cost us €65, (3 adults + 2 dogs ).. per night.
