Musing about compact layouts it occurred to me that it may be just about possible to get a small scooter or moped (possibly electric) inside the back doors of say a Ducato panel van, across the back.
Possibly with a french bed, that fits over the seat area, and the extra height of the handlebar area would go into a cupboard zone behind the side bathroom.
It would need the front wheel to be "posted" into the corner before swinging the back in, and a clever rotating and tilting ramp/ cradle. Complex , but only steel work. and with none of the road forces an external bracket takes.

So the question is : has anyone seen anything similar before?

My pvc has a full height and width " garage" area.around 600 mm deep, double transverse bed (drop down table) WC/shower and the usual 2 door fridge freezer, sink, microwave, etc

Ducato PVC where I've seen a motorbike in, it's been with a rear bed lifting mechanism. Also, Weinsberg has the bike special van, with high roof and a gas tight cargo area under the "loft" high rear bed. Never seen the bike sideways. Interesting idea.

While not being as extreme as having it behind the van on a rack, it certainly won't help the 'ride' of the van having that weight that far back.

I wouldn't have thought a c130kg bike, (plus say 40kg for ramp mechanism), perhaps 600mm behind the axle, and low down, would kill the handling. Possibly no worse than an evenly distributed full payload?

It doesn't help! there are transverse trailer things which would be my preference if I were to do that kind of thing.

The idea is the bike stays in overnight, for security and minimal hassle. Reduce overall length parking in towns would be useful too.
Without needing a ladder to get into a low headroom "coffin" bed area. I know race vans do that, but they are generally more, um, "male orientated".
Smaller scoots in the 125 bracket appear to fit... but its hard to model up as it relies on knowing the length and height at full steering lock, and possibly a bit of fork compression... its that close.

Ease of loading and security were exactly why I put in the full height separate garage area also didn't want to sleep on a high shelf
