Hi guys n gals.....

I'm looking for the best way to transport my scooter on my new van....What's best?
A scooter rack on the towbar, or a trailer?
And are there any discounts for either?

John

You need to be aware that a scooter and a rack will add a lot of weight to the rear of your van, probably around 150kgs or more depending on the scooter and the rear overhang of your van.

Yup....I get that....My little old bike comes in about 75 kilos....So should not be too bad....

Our scooter rack goes onto the 2 chassis rails underneath so much more stable than towbar mount. Was fitted by Watling Engineers at St Albans.

Also....Gonna ask the obvious here.....Do some people just stick the moped/scooter in the back of the van?

John....

Who fitted that?

Looks great...Is that towbar or chassis mounted?

I bought my rack secondhand off ebay for £100 ,its around £650 new . fits on towbar can take 150kg , its very stable . I don't actually have any photos of it fitted...ill post one tomorrow. Lots of second hand racks out there some crazy prices but if you shop around you can get a bargain.

Your 75kg scooter will put around twice that on to the back axle due to the pendulum affect. The further it is from the axle the heavier it becomes
