Hi we’re trying to insure our scooter for the first time and we’ve realised that they all only cover for 90 days European cover in one year which is a bit useless as we’re hoping to go away for at least 4 months at the end of 2018.
So what and who do you all use to insure your scooters/bikes ?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
At the moment Hastings is the cheapest quote but waiting for Adrian Flux to get back to me regarding a 180 day cover.
Many thanks

My bikes are with RAC.

When the boy had a moped that was with Lexham who claim to be scooter specialists.

No idea about European cover with either though.

Just a thought.

It it just something as simple as 90 day cover being standard in the policy and all it will take is a phone call to get it changed?

Nick it’s only 90 days and that’s it.........no extension !

I insured our scoot with Bennets tpft, after 90days it drops down to third party only. By law you are still covered on the minimum, BUT as our scoot is only worth a few hundred quid I'm willing to chance it disappearing. There doesn't seem to be any other way of doing it as far as I could find out.

its eu law that any vehicle insurance taken ut in the eu must cover the minimum in every eu and associate countries . thats for the full term of the cover.
many uk insurers are reluctant to actually tell you but read the policey , most insurers will lie as well.

There at least £100 dearer than my other quote
MikeD

They were about £20 dearer than my last insurer but they did not give the same overseas cover.

My quote was only £106 so your must have got a great deal last year :xgrin:

One way might be take out insurance for 1 year and cancel after 90 days in europe , and reinsure with another company .

On all these smaller policies they often have horrendous extra charges for stuff like cancellation.

This lot are no different. Some charges can exceed the cost of the policy.

Many thanks will as them again but was told yesterday it’s 90days and that’s it

Just insured scooter with Hastings Direct.

Specifically asked about the 90 days in EU and was advised it was per trip and NOT 90 days per year.

This suits us, as rarely away for more than 3 months.
