Swift Bessacarr 597
Hi, I’m after a scooter carrier for my swift Bessacarr 597 AL-KO chassis.

Has any one got one for sale also are they easy to fit? I’m being quoted £1282 for the memo classic delivered only.

I’m based in Manchester and Williams to travel.

Thanks

Iain.

Have you checked that you have enough spare payload to carry a scooter and rack?
Plus the rear axle will stand the extra weight.

That would be very tight at 3,850 and the back axle at 2000 wouldnt help.

Agreed. It's a big van at 8m. Looks like it's normally plated at 3850kg, but only has a little over 500kg payload. A scooter and rack a long way behind the rear axle will eat a large chunk of that small payload. And probably add 200kg to the rear axle.

Yes I have checked and it’s good.
Is it the 597 in the middle with 3,850 total and 2,000 on the back ?

When you say you have checked, have you weighed your van or are you going off the weights that I posted above ?

Am I correct it saying I can get it uplifted?

The bike is 105kg we are very light travelers too.

Just be aware that a 105kg bike will not add 105 to the axle weight.. Because of the cantilever effect more like 140 plus the weight of the rack.
You can get the van uprated by contacting Van weight engineering or SV tech but sometimes that does not give you any extra on the rear axle, thats something to check first. Plus may need air suspension fitting and/or heavier rated tyres.

Research first before spending any cash..

Thanks for the info, I’ve contacted sv currently waiting for the outcome. Unfortunately I bought the bike last week and now I’m having to deal with it. If I have to change the tyres and get air suspension then so be it. I appreciate your help.

I have one of these Easy lifter Hydra Trail's as it has wheels it put no weight on the motorhome and as the wheels are like casters reversing is no bother either, found near new one on FB market place, seen them on Ebay as well although its only slightly dearer than what you are looking at

VWE will be cheaper. [ Van Weight Engineering] Speak to "D".
AL-KO Chassis, so dearer to sort.

I had to have semi air fitted to carry my scooter (128kg with rack and ramp) in back of my Burstner. Had it uprated by SV Tech last year. As a previous poster has said, adding it to the rear will add more than the actual weight. I didn't like the idea of towing, even the hydratail (also, read of quality issues with the hydratail). Semi-air cost me £1500 to have installed plus £325 for uprating. It only takes me 5 minutes to load abd strap down the scooter (Honda SH125) in the rear garage. Other stuff goes in big 175lt box in lounge area (strapped down) When we get to campsite, scooter comes out, bix goes in garage.
