Has anyone any knowledge of a cheap single motorcycle carrier or transverse carrier?

Cheers but it’ll be too heavy to mount on van - it’s a small trailer or transverse wheeled carrier I’m looking for

bobnick

hes got a good un recently

The operative word in the op's thread, cheap.
My fix to the tow bar one was a Dave Cooper one. The rack was very well made. It just did nor suit my van (to low)
I now have a mid weight, upto 350 Kgs Motolug single bike trailer.
Just brought my much heaver bike to Spain it it.
Cannot praise it enough. Suits my needs to a T.
However, cheap it was not................but how do you define cheap.
I paid i think £1,450 with upsize wheels, a spare wheel and something else i forgot. To me worth every penny.

Have you tried reversing with it yet?😂😂
I use to probably do 10k a year towing trailers behind my work van and car, trailers up to 30ft long that I could reverse onto a penny on the floor but the worst ones I have ever had was motorbike trailers, time you see it your in trouble😂😂

Funny you should say that. Like you i have driven artics, countless vehcles with normal trailers and absolutly no issues. With this Motolug, can i get it right can i buggery. Don't help when you can't see it (the reversing screen in the cab is usless). I'm thinking of making 2 quick fit temporary arms that i can see from the cab.................and a lot more practice.
Oh BTW, i did notice the outrigger things on the trailer go under the van if i oversteer (thankfully)

Motobike trailers do seem quite "special" for reversing. Big trailers are fine for me too (though never driven an artic). Just before the first time I used a bike trailer on our van in anger, I went to my work on a Sunday afternoon towing the trailer. There's a big, empty car park with different angle approach roads. I spent a good hour driving around it backwards, getting dizzy watching the reversing camera, to be able to put the trailer where I wanted it to go. Definitely time well spent as I needed those skills in a tight car park on the first day of our trip.
Having said that, at worst you can unhitch a bike trailer; they aren't that heavy to push around, it's just the embarrassment and loss of man-card if you end up doing that with people watching.

The other things that are horrible to reverse are compressors and generators for the same reason, you can't see them until they've already gone to far, I had a trailer sailor that i towed with a Range Rover which was fine but couldn't reverse compressors or generators with a Sprinter pick-up.

I've often seen them on the back of highways maintenance vehicles and wondered how on earth they manoeuvre them - especially the tiny ones that I'd be surprised if you can see in mirrors even if fully jacknifed. Obviously from your comment the answer is "with great difficulty" :-)
