Ok here go‘s
arrived in Spain by ferry 15/01/23
depart Spain by ferry 10/04/23 = 86 day in Spain

Arrive in U.K. 11/04/23
depart. U.K. 10/07/23 = 90 days at home
am I right in thinking I can re enter Europe 10/07/23 for another 90 days

reason I ask is someone tried to tell me that it had to be 180 at home after spending nearly 90 in Spain , and I was under the impression it’s

90 out - 90 at home then your good to go

Use the Schengen calculator

The important point is to look back.

It's 90 in any 180
so 90 days at home restarts the clock
Not sure I'd cut it too fine in case of unavoidable delay in EU.

I tried the calculator to work out some dates not all consecutive,

Can't remember the exact dates, but something like 30 days taken in May last year, then another 14 days in September and just couldn't get it to work for me.. sorted in the end but not using the calculator.

The May days last year don't need to be put in the calculator only anything within the last 180 days. In fact if you have been back in the UK for 90 days you definitely have another 90 available.

That you need a custom calculator to work out if you are overstaying is a bit of a giggle really, but then when you look at the half dozen counties that came up with the dumb Scengzen idea it's hardly surprising, then it only came about because others could not agree. #so-stupid
