Well, we are just T- 4 months away from hitting the road on a monster trip.

We will be travelling up through Germany in to Denmark, across the water to Southern Norway. We will drive all the way to Nordkap, via the Forgotten Islands (as I like to call them). (we may visit Iceland)
We will then head east to Finland and tour down the Finland Russian border before heading inland and down in to Helsinki.
We will cross to Estonia and come back via Latvia Lithuania in to Poland and of course haul the truck back via Germany and the lowlands.

Nikki will be taking up the role of my PA and I will be working from the Motorhome, travelling and flying back to the UK every few weeks for a few days making sure all remains well.

I only have one stipulation, that is we have no plans other than the above. We will be guided by roads, directions, airports and lack of alcohol.
But, of course, there are some legalities to what we are doing. Does anyone know what they are? is there anything that may become unexpected when we trip in any of the countries that we go to?

So far, we have-
Yes we know its expensive.
Toll box in Norway for crossings.
I'm a EU citizen so no issues with time although we expect the trip to take up to 4 months.
Currency

We will have a 300cc scooter in the garage plus two electric bikes and my race bike on a tow ball bike rack. (all in weight limits for axle)

The funny thing is, we have no plans about what we are looking to see and very little planning on campsites or anything else for that matter. It's always been our way, make your own disasters I say!!!

Then I thought, it's only 17 weeks until we leave, so better ask some questions.

Think about cold and possibility of snow. Leaving in 4 months, beginning of July, you will be in northern climes in September/October. Sounds like a great trip and really no need to plan but just consider the weather where you are going.

Don't eat the reindeer. They 'repeat' on you you for days (and days) afterwards.

The Norway mountain passes are very scenic. But the road tunnels (lots of them) are so much quicker.

We did 3 weeks last summer and only booked the night before the ferry from Denmark to Norway. Finding good sites is very easy with NorCamp app and of course wilding is just a pleasure.

Plans?
We woke up one morning on the keyside aire in Oslo ("Vasa" exibition.).
After one overnight stop at a cemetary (very quiet) we were in Flåm

"Norway In a Nutshell" tour from Flåm

I agree, my first instincts were that the beginning of June might have been better.

Midsummers day, 21June, is an event for great celebrations all over Scandinavia. 👍

Thanks, we will be leaving the 1st August, August and September will be in Norway at the top, before dropping back down to maybe in Estonia for October.
But after 20 years of going skiing in our various Motorhomes, we love the cold and are pretty well set up for it in the a N&B...
In fact be ace if we got stranded there until the next June.

I agree, I lived and worked in Sweden many years ago and the old saying about not bad weather, just bad clothing could never be truer BUT, up North, when the wind blows, the chillfactor can be horrendous.

I know where your coming from it, in Sweden at least, Midsummers Eve and day, is something to behold.

At least, it used to be? 🤔

Yes can't wait for the cold....
The only thing is finding the right clothing, when in a camper for so long. We have lots of payload but we are basically taking winter clothes just in case but also need summer clothes...
The clothes planning is more problematic than the toll boxes...

I suppose the good thing is, that flying home every few weeks, I can always adjust some elements of the trip.

For cold weather clothing, I found the Swedish Army stuff good and there are quite a few Army Surplus stores around.

Might be worth a look see when you get there? 👍

Do you mean the "Fram"/ "Kon Tiki"? The "Vasa" is in Stockholm

Only one mistake in whhat I posted. You are quite right we were in Stockholm.

But the "Norway in Nutshell" is from Flåm- at the top of the Aurlandsfjord in Norway (838km away)
