Hi

Planning a loop of Denmark/Norway/Sweden/Finland/Estonia/Latvia, and Lithuania, then Poland/Germany home.

Mainly a road trip as its such a long way but looking for gems along the route and any key info for things like tolls etc. Sadly wife can't walk/bike (ebike) as much as we used to at the moment.

Van is 3.5t mgw, so "light" vehicle

We've been to Denmark/Norway/Sweden before but not the baltics or Finland.

Planning quick direct drive tunnel-->france-->belgium-->holland-->germany-->denmark.
Bridge/tunnel to Sweden
To oslo and up norway to arctic circle, cross into sweden/finland, then ferry helsinki to Tallin
Then back through the baltics to home.

Last time, we didn't register van for tolls anywhere but did get invoices from Norway (with no penalty) so quite easy to pay. Sweden didn't bill us. Not sure about the others? Ferries we paid on arrival (except lofoten where they didn't see us watching Paddington in the back and they let us on free! (We were expecting to pay and thought they were going to stop us and ask but we got sent straight on. Guilty. But it paid for my whale stake later :) )

We'll try and avoid campsites (unless excellently located) but generally use permitted areas if convenient as they tend to be better placed.

Having done one loop of Norway and Sweden and a couple of visits to Denmark we're keen to minimise repeats but some will be necessary.

So just looking for gems and pointers to "non standard" things on route, and latest advice on tolls etc.

Thanks :)

I'll follow this with interest. We aren't planning anything quite so ambitious though, just Denmark and Norway.

We did this route more or less certainly covered all the counties, i found finland terrific fir scenery but quite boring ,however the ferry from helsinki to tallin superb and Estonia a delight.

We did a month in Denmark, quite a pleasant surprise. Nothing "wow" but generally very nice Norway scenery is great if weather is good, but is expensive!

Thanks. Any top tips and info apprecaited. Assuming the helsinki ferry is buy ticket at the port?
We found Sweden the same - lots of great scenery but doesn't change! Will only do the bottom then cut across the top. not sure where as not got our finland plans yet beyond moose steak for me.
