Looking at a Satnav. We're new to Motorhome life ! Are truck ones any good ? They seem a lit cheaper??

Mine was £64 I think when I bought my Satnav many years ago. If you watch truckers on YouTube they tend to have two satnavs. My son, who is a delivery boy in the whole of Britain has a cheap TomTom and also uses his phone. You need to say what you want from a satnav - a truck satnav will not find motorhome sites as easy as a Motorhome satnavs.

Hi and welcome 🤗

For many years I have used a snooper Ventura and was very happy. But relatively expensive.

for the last 28 months I have been using the Copilot app for motorhomes annual subscription is £28 if you want real time traffic and routing considering the size of your vehicle.
I use it on my ipad.

Won’t go back to a dedicated sat nav.

All sat navs will stitch you up.
I use Google maps for an overview of our location, then use the signposts for the next city/town along the route. Then Google navigation for the last mile, never fails.

I also use co-pilot on iPad. It is good but not fool proof, but i don’t think any are. In the early days it took me into a few cul-d-sacs and once tried taking me over a 3.5T bridge when my van is 4.5T - just proves its maps aren’t always up to date. If you follow it with a healthily degree of scepticism it works fine And having it on big iPad screen is great.

We used a Garmin Camper for a couple of years but I got rid after one particularly bad experience where it repeatedly tried to send us up roads clearly unsuitable for a large SUV towing a large twin axle caravan. Despite our dimensions being programmed into it.

We of course ignored it and found out later that it will only avoid specific tight 'pinch ponts' which may mean unsuitable roads may be included in your route.

So now we just use Google maps on Android auto and will check out potential issues on street view in advance. We also carry a Collins truckers road atlas as back up.
