Another minefield. Is it worth forking out for a high end one? Or just a basic sat nav?

Free on line apps are available try those first

Magic earth is good too. I wouldn't pay for a dedicated sat nav these days. The apps are improving all the time and many are free. I run on a 10" tablet in the motorhome with backup on my phone.

Xgody ,Chinese sat navs are excellent for the price ,around £60 off Ebay. Up to date maps off a Facebook account ,free,a 7" screen .truck inputs, never had major issues with ours. (y)

Yes it's just an example Google free lgv maps/sat nav some are easier to use than others it's personal preference they come with ads but I'd you don't want them then you pay

As recommended above, Magic Earth is amazing considering it's free. I just used it in the MH for the first time over a 2 week holiday in the Western Isles and it was faultless. You can download maps to make sure you still get directions with no service and the live delays were consistent with Google maps which I also had running at the same time. It's compatible with Andoid Auto and Apple car play and there is even a Heads up feature with it which I haven't tried. You can customise the voices as well. Really impressive, can't see any need to buy anything anymore. Using it on an old tablet I find much better than the fitted screen because the fitted screen is awful if the sun is shining on it.(y)

I've had a £80 (?) Garmin Nuvi 54 for many years, which is now c£110. It's been OK. Takes us through housing estates now and again, does want to go down single track roads but we spot those and avoid them. Never used a satnav on the Continent. My current van is 6m. I don't see the need for anything else - other than a good map and someone who can read it!

I had a truck satnav when we had motorhomes but now we've a van conversion I just use my Garmin car satnav with no problems.

Agree, I use it in the car as the built in one loves single track roads. Waze doesn't allow for height, weight etc.
Waze also wanted to take us on major detour in France off an almost empty N road onto some back roads that would have taken longer 🤷‍♂️ .

May have been asked earlier , how big is your van. Unles you want something specific for a huge van ( bus or truck size) just go with waze on mobile or tablet, google earth or a cheap sat nav from Aldi.
Been using waze and google earth for a few years now and found them great.
