Santander to Lisbon in one week - recommendations please

Dear y'all

We shall be landing in Santander early April and have around a week to get down to Lisbon.
Early plan was to go West (costa verde) then South down via Santiago.

I would be interested in any recommended camp sites along this route or the alternative of a diagonal route via e.g. Salamanca.

There are plenty of sites on 't'internet, but many seem scruffy and/or down wiggly winding narrow roads.

We like quiet friendly sites, open in April, which will take an 8m A class without too much of a dry mouth.
