Off to the Costas on Wednesday 🙂, a bit south of Alicante. Four nights to get there (pre-booked site for two weeks) and it's the first time we've done santander to Southern Spain. Previously Northern Spain a d Portugal. Suggestions for your favourite stopovers and route welcomed - we just like decent bars and restaurants really, not culture vultures, especially the dog 😉.

Lucky you.

We've done this route many times and would recommend the following.

Free aire just off the motorway at Logrono for an overnight stop or you could carry on to the next stop

Free aire just off motorway at Zaragoza. Worth staying long enough to get the tram into the city but there are bars, restaurants and a big Carrefour supermarket within walking distance

Campsite at Puçol for a trip in Valencia

Campsite at Javea

You are then on the south coast with many options on your way to Alicante.

Have fun.

Hi

I too have made that trip many times. Still do by car, van and motorhome.

I would take a 4 hour trip to Cascante, Navarra.

Next to the School. Nice Swimming pool and village

Then 4 hours to Javea (my second home town). Stay at one of the two sites

I am not there until the end of the month. Otherwise, you could of stayed up near us .

Then off to Alicante

Logrono is well worth stopping at 1Km from town centre (separate water and dumps 500m down the road) and great for the 120+ pinchos bars in 2 streets. Our favourite place in Spain.

Do your own thing but this is some Yanks take on the place. While they talk of beer you are in the capital of the rioja region.

Second Logrono. We stopped in the town at the campsite on the river. Easy walk through the park. Tapas & wine to die for 😋 we visited there just for that one year.

Zaragoza is a beautiful city to venture into, most don’t but they are missing a treat. Near the Cathedral square there was a Spanish buffet restaurant serving lots & lots of Spanish choices, not to be missed really for a chance to taste many different things. I’ve never seen one like this before in Spain and have travelled extensively when we were looking for somewhere to settle then 10 years camping.

Pucol is great for Valencia, another fantastic city to visit especially if you like dining and drinking.
