Do any of you well travelled folk have a recommendation for a 7.5ft Motorhome stopover handy for the above.

Thanks 👍

There's an aire near the University, around 25 spaces plus a service point, €3.50 pn winter €7pn in summer. It's very popular especially at weekends even if it's a long walk to town and beach. There are others in P4N we've used.

We used this for a night about ten years ago very busy but a nice walk around the bay to the old town.

Seconded on how busy it is!! If you have bikes it’s a simple ride into the old town round the bay on dedicated cycle ways. Additionally you can catch a bus at the end of the road if you don’t fancy the walk both ways.

As TerryL has said above. We stayed there for a couple of nights, it is very busy but we got there mid morning and quite a few spots were available. At the weekend a local side road was being used by vans who couldn’t get into the aire. It’s right by the university and so the side roads is busy in term time ( mon-fri) but empty at the weekends.

There is a lovely feel to the area with plenty of bars etc and a bus service into town.

There is a bus straight into town - can’t remember but google will find it j think

Thanks all, I think I spotted that one earlier today 👍

Good to have recommendations for it.

We stayed here last night, as we are 9.5m we had to phone ahead but perfect for our overnight stop:

We spent a couple of nights at Igeldo camping up the hill about 5 km west of San Sebastián. Nice site with a small bar serving food. There’s a regular bus service from the village that takes about 15 minutes to the centre of San Sebastián. A word of warning if using this site. Approach from the east, San Sebastián, as the approach from the west is very narrow with a number of hairpins. We found out the hard way in a 4 Van convoy going up from Orio whilst numerous groups of Lycra clad sports cyclists were coming down with associated back up vehicles 😅

Another vote for the aire near the university. Spent a couple of nights there.

San Sebastian is a great city. Laid back promenade and beach, with a beautiful old town with great bars and eateries.

Useful - will be there tomorrow - or maybe Thursday.

Where exactly as I cannot seem to find it 🤷‍♂️ or is it the Donosti one above?

Thank you 👍

If you just want somewhere free to park on a Sunday night, here's my link...

We're heading over to Bordeaux as we have given up on the Spanish weather - that's why we have a motorhome and don't book sites etc. it's early 20 degrees next week, reaching 23 on Monday and Tuesday. I assume San Sebastian will be similar ...

We always use Camping Orio. It’s about 10k west of San Sebastián, right on the beach. Very clean site and excellent train service into San Sebastián after a 15 minutes walk into town. The train journey to Zarautz is recommended also.

We have stayed at Inelgo camping, but not recommended for large mono’s.

We are currently in the university Aire in San Sebastian. It's been full last night and tonight. Must be impossible to get a space in summer! It is a cosy park up - 40 ISH spaces but be prepared to hear next door snoring.

Excellent spot for access to town though. On our bikes it's 15 mins to the old town.
Only 5.50 euros a night too.

Been on a food and wine tour today. Yum!!

The trick with that any many popular aires is to get there in the morning and wait for a space…..

I parked outside, then waited until a couple of vans departed, walked in with Mrs R who guarded chosen spot so i could go back and get the van before someone jumped into it😉

Another vote for camping Orio. Train into San Sebastian. Short walks either side

Yes, absolutely agree.
We arrived last June around 2pm and it was full apart from one extremely tight space, so I accepted the challenge to reverse into it
My lovely Sue occasionally mentions my superb reversing skills, and I will dine out on that
particular event forever……😉

Likewise, we stayed here - ‎⁨Wecamp San Sebastián⁩, ⁨Donostia / San Sebastián⁩, ⁨Spain⁩ - and made the mistake of coming in from the West, ignoring the main roads that serve the site in favour of some edge of the seat manouevres on a very narrow and winding "road" that was tricky even in our 6.5m moho. Site was pretty full and the pitches are variable in size and accessibility and I would think that it is not entirely suitable for larger vehicles. Nice site though, with easy access by bus to the town. There did also seem to be some parking across the road from the site but not sure if that was for touring vans.

Thanks to all for the many suggestions.

I have now had a good look at all the online reviews, park4night, searchforsites and google satelite maps for the flowing:
The university aire
Wecamp Igeldo
Camping Orio

Not much difference in cost or timings between the three for travel to San Sebastián.
So our choice would be Camping Orio for the more spacious pitches, facilities and nearby fishing village.

Thanks for that, we do have ACSI membership.

In fact when we go to Spain next month we want to visit Valencia. We found the Devesa Gardens campsite which is a bit expensive at about 42e pn but accepts the ACSI card for ………………. 23e pn 🥳

I thought it must be a misprint, so I emailed them to ask and had a very nice email back within the hour confirming the price (which includes EHU)!
