Anybody stayed on camping don Quijote Salamanca heading that way from Santander on Monday but not sure about getting past the village just before the campsite I have been told there is a low bridge and one way system.my Motorhome is 7 meters long 3meters high
Thanks in advance for any help

We've been there several times and not noticed a problem. Neither CAMC nor ACSI comment on access.
Good restaurant on site.
Thanks for the info do you drive into Salamanca or through cabrerizos to get to the site hope this makes sense

We stayed last year and didn't have a problem. Bridge is 3.5 M and we are 3.2.

You've probably already booked the site but if not Camping/hotel Regio at Salamanca is easy access and bus from site to city centre.
Not booked we normally just turn up at a site liked the campsite because of the reviews for cycling into Salamanca but nice to have a back up.

You won’t need to book Regio, it’s large. It’s more of a summer campsite so quite quiet this time of year. Have fun

Heading for Seville after Salamanca any recommendations

I was at Don Quixote last week & have stayed previously at Regio. I prefer Don Quixote. The bridge you talk of is not a problem but the village of Cabrerizos is a bit tight & narrow bends in places if following the sat nav. They could be avoided I’m sure & busses do a round circuit from Salamanca & under that bridge on the way back into the city. I drove through it from Burgos but in future I would not turn left on the main road roundabout but would carry straight on towards Salamanca and turn off along a more main ring road to pick up the main road out of Salamanca to the camp site direct. I think if you look on the google maps for Parque de Wurzburg you would get my idea of the way I would go next time, or look more at the roads in the village. The bus stop is a 10 minute walk from the site and is adjacent that bridge on the village side. Hope this helps kelv

We were planning to stay at a campsite in Dos Hermanos area of Seville but did not go in the end. The road around Seville from the north heading to Cadiz was horrendously busy with stationary traffic too.

After Salamanca I can absolutely recommend Camping Monfragüe in the national park with easy drive and free parking into Plasencia. Guided bird tours available into the park from the site if you wanted & new park visitor centre adjacent to it.

We stayed at Camping Regio for I think 3 nights.

Decent site, pitches on grass.
All the facilities including a café and pool (Pool was closed last May).
The bus into the centre turns around in the hotel car park, so it's easy to get in and out.

The route will take you via Caceres. That’s worth a stopover and Camping Caceres (just off the mainroad) is a good site, again with bus from outside the site into Caceras centre.
We stayed at Camping Villsom in the south of Sevilla, 25min bus into centre. Site is quite tatty, dirty sand type pitches but it’s about the access into Sevilla -we were hardly on the site.

Thanks looked at both sites may do them
Both

That’s the one thanks for the info is it ok getting through the village
A few sharp steep turns but nothing to worry about. We are 7.5m. Great site, huge pitches. Pool was closed in May last year. Bus into Salamanca is handy.

We like Regio in Salamanca and we especially like that you can rock up really late and still get booked in, via the hotel.

Not anymore. The hotel and campsite are VERY separate and have what appears quite a lot of contempt for each other. Observations based on a Sept 2024 visit.

Interesting reading this thread, we're heading Santander to Saville (via Madrid) in June so just getting geared up for it.

If you fancy a free could of nights in Seville. This place is a nice walk into town. With lots of bars and restaurants to stop at on the way in.

Oh, that's a shame, we've pulled on at 10pm a few times and had a warm welcome from the hotel concierge.

We started at Regio last August, end of the month. Lots of spaces. It's not the most beautiful site but has all you need, and two swimming pools. But the bus into Salamanca is a real winner. The bus comes onto site.

I stopped there in 2015ish winter while travelling in the VeeDub and the showers had no heating 😱

I hope that now a thing of the past? 🤞

We were there for a few days a couple of weeks ago. No problem with access; we’re a 6.5m motorhome. Great site, easy access to Salamanca by bus (15/20 minutes walk to bus stop), bar, restaurant etc. Good clean facilities as well 👍

I’ve just checked my tracker and, as I thought, we came down through Cabrerizos village where I think this bridge is last year. Our MH is 7.3m long and 3.15m high (top of satellite dome). The bridge at W3W ///overhaul.jobs.hosts is signed as 3.5m high (see Google Earth pic attached).
The bus stop for Salamanca is also just on the village side of the bridge so buses go under it to head to Salamanca. As I recall, the village itself was a bit tight in the centre and the bus actually skirts round the North then down the East side of the village. We didn’t!
Post-script: satellite dome now removed as it was a. Useless; and b. A pain in rear being over 3m.

Your be fine, if your coming from the East, just follow SA-804, and it will be on your left down Diseminado Arenal Angel Road, the Bridges are on the Right side of the SA-804 going under the railway, but you don't need to go that way.

If you are coming from North East, your sat Nav will take you Left at the first aroundbout after coming off the E 80, there are two bridges in that direction, the first is high enough for any lorry, but the second Bridge is 3.5m, which should be ok, mine is 3.10m, and it was ok.

There is a bus service in Cabrerizos to take you to the center of Salamanca, they run on a good schedule and on time, to get to the Bus stop, turn left out of the camp site, then left on the SA-804, turn right and go under the Bridge, the Bus stop is just across the road.

Also you can take the lovely walk or Bike along the river to Salamanca.

Good luck and enjoy your Holiday.

There's cycle paths from Regio most of the way in.

Blimey a big site - a pity they allow very late arrivals by the sound of it - maybe in holding area?
