I posted about the RWG sim back in April 2021 and again in October 2021 (see link at bottom of this post for the other threads) but whereas before it was completely free this has changed so although the sim itself is free it now requires an initial £5 top-up which is applied as credit which won't expire and there's also no need to keep topping up. RWG are based in Wales and use the Now/EE network, the basic PAYG sim gives 50 mins or 50 SMS (or a mix of both) plus 250mb of data a month for nowt until you cancel it. You'll still get the free allowances each month and your £5 credit won't be used unless you exceed these.
The below link is to the new plans and the basic one is still a good option for those who for example just want a standby sim in case their main one goes kaput or they can't get a signal so want to have another sim from a different provider (assuming they're not already with EE!), or just for incoming calls, for a basic tracker etc. You can get other sims with more data/calls/texts if you want starting at £1 a month (no minimum term):
If you want to be able to use mins/texts/data abroad though you'd need to check the T&Cs as the original 'free' one was UK only.
